Issue #4 (July 2022)
Hi there! Let's talk about what's been going on in the last month or so.
APOCALYPSE FRAME
The final Infected World entry, Trophy, is out! This final entry is less map-based than the others: it's just a collection of unique Armaments, Systems, and Frames. But I like to think of it as a continuation nonetheless:
Wilderness is about introducing the concept of exploration: map mechanics, placing towers for data, etc.
Territory is about things that will deny or complicate your further exploration: enemies that make operating in their vicinity more difficult.
Caravan is about situations that provide challenges but also opportunities.
And Trophy is about what you get out of it: one of a kind things.
The plan is to, at some point, compile all 4 of these into one document (with the cover above, which I've been holding onto and using for promotional stuff since day 1).
As for the long-awaited v1.0 of APOCALYPSE FRAME, here is where we're at with it:
The first editing pass is done! I'm currently in the process of going through each line edit to tweak everything appropriate and re-introducing changes made since then. It reads much better now, and I'm excited for things like section rearrangements to make it make more sense.
I'm probably going to introduce the ACES HIGH content into the core book as Advanced Rules. (Ace Advances as described there are going into the main rule text, though.) This is because while I want it to be an optional addition (as it does complicate things further), it would be a shame to leave it as digital-only if and when I print this, and it would be a hassle to make two books.
As for art...well, I've got news but I'll keep it to myself for the time being. Safe to say you've all got something to be excited about. Stay tuned.
I've started mocking up layout ideas for v1.0 (especially for Frames!) based on The Infected World.
ANOINTED
ANOINTED is continuing development further now that the season pass is over! I recently released v0.1.3 which adds a lot of needed fine-tuning to combat.
I'm currently developing procedures and expectations for exploration. Right now I've come up with mechanics for Disposition: basically, the stance of characters, hostile or otherwise, to determine how they can be approached. This is stuff that's pretty easily handled by a GM, but this provides something more meaty for GMless play or high-procedural play.
And that's where I'm at! Next month is my one year anniversary. I'm planning to make a big post chronicling my year to date, both qualitatively and in numbers (money made, downloads, etc). I'll probably make it a separate update so people who don't want to see that kind of thing can avoid it.
Until next time!
