Issue #3 (June-ish 2022)
July 2nd is basically June, right? What a terrible month. Anyway, let's talk about games.
Trespasser
Trespasser is out! The Breathless Jam is over by the time I write this but there were a whole lot of great entries, so check it out! Trespasser is a survival horror game influenced by STALKER and focused around the idea of approaching the prize at the center of a Zone. It can be solo, group/GMless, or traditionally GM'd. It's 5 bucks, go get it!
APOCALYPSE FRAME/The Infected World
The Infected World is almost complete! One last entry, Trophy, will be out next week, at which point the price will stabilize at $15. At some point in the future I'll compile all 4 entries into one expansion.
In other APOCALYPSE FRAME news, editing of the base text is still going on, after which I'll start layout. I'm considering including ACES HIGH content as advanced rules in the final product, so we'll see how that goes. I've also been continuing to iterate on a few base rules, because I can't leave well enough alone, so 0.4.1 should be out sometime next month.
I'm also looking into creating a compatibility license for AF, tentatively titled Framed by the Apocalypse. It's not going to be much of a license, mostly just attribution plus a note of non-association with me, but I find that giving explicit permission helps people have confidence that it's not only ok to do so but actively encouraged. (Which it is for any of my games, definitely don't wait for a license to drop to make stuff if you want to! But I'm also planning on including helpful things like design process notes, affinity templates, etc.)
ANOINTED
I've been periodically tapping at ANOINTED in between working on the two of those. I had a few revelations from various sources (especially RUNE) as to how I wanted to handle areas, which I worked into a devlog for v0.1.3 here.
As it is, it's playable, if a bit wonky! I've run a playtest of it successfully and only had to make a few tweaks.
Roadmap
As APOCALYPSE FRAME settles into more of a "polish and release" cadence for both the The Infected World compilation and the v1.0 core, my design energy is mostly going into ANOINTED. My goal is to have something that's in a state were I'm willing to consider it a "full" edition before the end of the year. As such, in the next month, I'll be releasing the aforementioned v0.1.3, which I'm hoping will include a kind of "tutorial dungeon" style area.
After that? Who knows. Probably some kind of expanded APOCALYPSE FRAME stuff. I have some ideas, but I'll see where I am when I'm ready to do that again.
Will I also swerve into doing something like Trespasser or a RUNE realm in the future? Probably.
Until next time, when it's just shy of a 1 year anniversary for me!
