Issue #14 (December/January 2024)
Hi there! Been a busy couple of months.
As you'll notice, we've moved over to buttondown. I hate moving platforms but I really don't like the guy who runs substack and I don't want to be on his platform so here we are.
Valiant Horizon
The final game's out! Or at least v1.0 is out, I'm gonna be releasing little fixes and such as time goes on. Now featuring some tuned-up mechanics, a bunch of illustrations from Charlotte Laskowski, and editing from Marx Shepherd.
Also...
The season pass, Ages of Heroism, will be coming March 1st! This season pass will outline 4 Ages that can be inserted into your setting's past. Each Age will come with some guidance as to the vibe of the Age, 3 Classes, and a host of enemies related to the Age's big threats.
APOCALYPSE FRAME
Hardcovers are available in the US! As you can see a few are still available via itch, but I'm planning to start contacting other sellers next to sell wholesale, ideally worldwide.
I also released APOCALYPSE ReFRAMEd, a little free supplement of alternative rules for APOCALYPSE FRAME. I'm currently using the 12-page zine to experiment with Mixam's POD service - the print quality is fine, and assuming everything goes fine on payments, I might use that for Valiant Horizon too, as well as some of my back catalog. So hopefully I'll have something for sale on that front soon!
Celestial Bodies
v1.1 is coming out soonish, hopefully. After that's out (and we've assessed the vibe/general reaction to it, and patched up any outstanding issues), we'll likely be starting to look at backer content.
Other Writing
I tend to post things on one platform and then forget to post them elsewhere? (It's usually cohost.) I'm gonna try to get better about writing more and posting them here too when I do. Following this post, I'm gonna shoot over a teardown of Machinations of Amirus, my 1/3 of a VN that I wrote: a description of what it is and why it's like that, what I think went well, what I think will improve, and what the next steps are (whenever I take them). Upcoming posts: Idle thoughts on using Valiant Horizon to make a Persona-like game and updating Total//Effect with lessons learned. Or maybe not! We'll see how I'm feeling.
See you all soon!
