Issue #13 (December 2023)
And November, and October, and September. Oops.
Hi there! It’s been awhile since I last checked in, before the end of Valiant Horizon’s itchfund. I bet nothing’s happened since then.
Celestial Bodies
Ah, oops. I guess something happened, huh.
Since I last checked in last August, the Terrestrial Edition of Celestial Bodies was announced, developed, and released. It’s a cooperative venture between myself and Charlotte Laskowski (the incredible illustrator for Valiant Horizon, who’s also done quite a few other things! Check out Daisy Chainsaw especially). I wrote a big post on cohost about the key mechanic, The Grid, but a lot about this project excites me, especially designing in a GMless-first space. The itchfund did preposterously well (I think it set a record?) so we owe folks a lot of custom content - so look forward to that! We’ll be working on a more complete edition as well.
Valiant Horizon
Anyway, back to my other itchfund (which was still going the last time I wrote! It’s been awhile, I’m sorry.)
Valiant Horizon is almost out! Most of the illustration is finished and it’s nearly though editing. Hoping the final version will be in folks’ hands sometime early next year, and the season pass will be starting soon after! My goal is to sketch out 4 past ages that can inform campaigns by heroes and threats sourced from them. (I’ll be consulting the $50 and up backers to see what ages they want to prioritize - right now I have six ideas, aiming to pick from 8 or so.)
Also, the backer content is fully out! If you have the game, you have 6 more extremely neat classes in a secondary PDF included with itch downloads. Enjoy!
APOCALYPSE FRAME
Two announcements.
One: Hardcover copies are coming. The order has been placed and they’re inbound! My plan is to start by distributing within the US directly, then sell to wholesalers to handle the rest.
Two: APOCALYPSE ReFRAMEd is out! I made a quick little free thing for Minimalist Jam 2. It has three variant rulesets!
Other
What else am I up to? Who knows in the new year. Anything can happen.
Until next time.
