Digitized Analog Letterboxd Monthly: March 2025
All caught up on sharing movie doodles and thoughts!
As mentioned at the top of the previous editions of the Digitized Analog Letterboxd Monthly, I received a nice mechanical pencil and a couple of quad-ruled pocket notebooks from my sister this past holiday season. In one of the notebooks, I keep a near-daily log of some notable things that happened, but in the other I keep a magical movie journal where I note certain production/viewing details, lightly hash out thoughts/feelings, and try to add a little doodle/drawing.
I only just recently decided to share my favorite pages (by my own personal metric) at the end of each month, but since April is like 1/3 completed, I’m getting us caught up with the first few months, this way I can actually post the end of April at the end of April.
And so with that, a polite warning: There may be spoilers ahead. To minimize that possibility, below is the list of movies featured. If you give any fraction of a crap about any of them, then proceed with any amount of caution as you see fit from here on out. (If you can read my handwriting, great! And if you already follow me on Letterboxd, well then also great!)

Cruising, Lokis: A Manuscript of Professor Wittembach

Additional commentary:
For Cruising, if I were feeling more risque, I might’ve considered drawing the guy on a swing getting fisted in front of some dudes at the club Pacino went to, but I obviously did not. Spoilers, if you were going to watch Cruising.
I’m kinda pleased with the way the Lokis caricatures turned out here.
Heretic, Magazine Dreams

Additional commentary:
These might be the two drawings that I’m the happiest with. I think I captured a serious Hugh and a not-sure-how-to-smile Jonathan.
The Ballad of Crowfoot, You Are On Indian Land, Consume, Mickey 17

Additional commentary:
Those Mickeys aren’t baaaad, per se, but 17 does look a little Buster Keaton-y, and that Mark Ruffalo…forget it!
True Stories, Days of Heaven, Into the Grand Canyon

Additional commentary:
I knew I wanted to draw something for True Stories, I just wasn’t sure what, but I think David Byrne driving his Chrysler LeBaron convertible - it “isn't a rental car, it's privately owned.” - was probably the right choice. Or at least one of many possible right choices. Y’know what I mean? Or do you?
Crossing Delancey, Black Bag

Additional commentary:
For Crossing Delancey, I knew I wanted to do something with that hat and maybe a pickle, so that’s what I did.
Black Bag had a few options, but I wanted to highlight Michael Fassbender’s glasses. This is from him preparing dinner, though you wouldn’t know that that’s what he was doing from the drawing.
Death of a Unicorn, Dark Waters

Additional commentary:
It only made sense to draw a unicorn for Death of a Unicorn, but I didn’t want to draw the whole of the, some kind of mammalian with a protrusion?, I wanted to emphasize the rather girthsome glowing horn.
You can’t tell from this distance, but those are nuns standing at the edge of a cliff by the seaside in Dark Waters. They were rather cruel.
Current Mood: Energized
Listening to: A KitchenAid mixer mixing up some cookie dough.
