Digitized Analog Letterboxd Monthly: February 2025
In which I continue sharing movie journal highlights—complete with doodles!
Regulars here (pft) might recall that I received a nice mechanical pencil and a couple of quad-ruled pocket notebooks from my sister this past holiday season. In one of the notebooks, I keep a near-daily log of some notable things that happened. Boring.
But in the other one, I keep a magical movie journal where I note certain production/viewing details, lightly hash out thoughts/feelings, and try to add a little doodle/drawing. While I didn’t intended on sharing it, I’ve fallen into a format I like and my drawings hover around okay-ish and had the thought that it’s possible these might bring joy to someone’s day.
That, plus an ongoing effort to write more regularly, is why I’ve decided to share my favorite pages (by my own personal metric) at the end of each month. Since we’re now partly through April already, I’m in the process of getting us caught up with the first few month’s so that I can actually post the end of April at the end of April.
And so a polite warning that there may be spoilers ahead. To minimize that possibility, below is the list of movies featured. If you give any fraction of a crap about any of them, then proceed with any amount of caution as you see fit from here on out. (If you can read my handwriting, great! And if you already follow me on Letterboxd, well then also great!)

In the January “edition" of the Digitized Analog Letterboxd Monthly, I noted the early stages of my formatting, what I wanted to include, and walked through some formatting notes. Here are a few more:
Formatting notes:
One thing I learned here is that as much as I hated wasting space, I really disliked cramming up the space even more. This was the last time I tried to not waste as much space when I wasn’t drawing anything.
Additional commentary:
All the Paddington movies are 5 stars in my eyes, and I will absolutely buy a 4k boxset if one is released. Also, I think I’m pretty good at drawing a cartoon bear!
Men in Black II is terrible.
Men in Black³, Opera

Formatting notes:
I dropped the boxing off of information, partially out of laziness, but mostly for the cleaner look.
Additional commentary:
In Men in Black³, Josh Brolin is perfect as a young Agent K; I just cannot imagine Mark Wahlberg in that role.
THX 1138, The Dreaming

No formatting notes, but some of my drawings… not great!
Additional commentary:
Probably best known for Star Wars, THX 1138 is George Lucas’s feature-length directorial debut. The only Star Wars film I’ve ever seen is Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005). Happy 20th birthday to what was supposed to be the chosen one!
Kadaicha, Heart Eyes

No formatting notes, but if you get a chance to see Kadaicha (also known as Stones of Death), you simply must.
Mark of the Devil, The Witch

Formatting notes:
Perhaps what has become my final formatting change is how I’ve centralized the placement of my (and the person with whom I saw the movie) rating to the top line of the header. (I guess it should be noted that I follow the 5 star scale and allow for half-points.)
Additional commentary:
In additional to a cartoon bear, I think I’m also pretty good at drawing a woman accused of witchcraft who is wearing a metal head brace and is about to have her tongue cut out. I don’t know what that says about me.
