As the year is coming to an end, here is some update on the minichord project. The bad news is that it won't be ready for the holidays, but the good news is that it is moving forward 🎉
Thanks to the incredible support, Seeedstudio was convinced to have a look at it and I am happy to announce that they received my prototypes and are currently assessing their capability to manufacture the minichord.
In addition, I've kept adding features, as you can see in the changelog at the end of this communication. The most important one is of course MIDI support!
In order to keep making the minichord better, I’ve decided to spend my free time in January hand-building a batch of them and sending them to interested people. Here are the profile I would like to reach:
🎸 🎹 Musicians/artists that would like to use the minichord in their projects, to assess how it could evolve to better fit their diverse needs, and possibly propose some sound presets for the release.
💻 🖱️ Developers with experience in C/C++, and embedded development, to help make the firmware better and possibly propose new features/functions.
➡️ 📬 If you think you correspond to one of those profiles, please reach out, either by email, or through Instagram.
Of course, stay posted for the update on the manufacturing and the date of general availability. If you'd like some more frequent updates and videos of the minichord being used, you can also find me on Instagram.
Regards,
Benjamin
Changelog ⚙️ :
✅ To respond to the frequent demand, the minichord is now a MIDI controller, with two distinct port for the harp and chord section. You can find the usage manual here and a short demo video.
✅ Since a lot of people were confused with the chosen note order, I've modified the default note order to follow the circle of fifth.
✅ I've added a "note transposition" feature on the minicontrol software to allow to easily play with a guitarist using a capo.
To ask for any additional feature, you can use ➡️ the issue tracker on Github

I’ve used a privacy-friendly newsletter and disabled all tracking options;
I’ll never share your email or use it for any other use than the stated one;
I won’t send more than an email every two week (and you can actually expect a lot less until the project is launched);
Once the project is fully available for purchase, I’ll delete this mailing list and all data related to it.
