The One Movie I Really Want You to See
One of my favorite recent movies is Pater Noster and the Mission of Light. The horror movie, which came out last year and is streaming on Night Flight, is about record collectors in search of rare vinyl from a 1970s cult/psychedelic band. It’s full of vinyl nerd in-jokes, references to the Source Family, the Merry Pranksters and Whipped Cream and Other Delights. If you love horror movies and records, you have to see this movie.
Anyhow, I reached out to the film’s director, Christopher Bickel, for an interview. We talked about DIY filmmaking, punk rock and Whipped Cream and Other Delights. The story is live now, please give it a read when you have the chance.
DIRECTOR CHRISTOPHER BICKEL ON PATER NOSTER AND THE MISSION OF LIGHT
Last Saturday at Klub Nocturno was amazing. In fact, they’ll be hosting another IMM Community fundraiser on Friday, July 11 and I’ll be back in the DJ booth in the new wave vs. darkwave room. Get your tickets now on Dice and check out the playlist from last weekend’s party.
This Saturday, I’ll be playing an all-vinyl set, alongside DJs Malvada and Lee, at Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz. There’s no cover and the venue is 21+. Party starts at 10 p.m. and goes until last call. For more information on this and other events happening over the weekend and into next week, follow this link.
I’m going to keep this short because of work deadlines, so have a great weekend and be on the lookout for more stories gig updates next week.
