French Police, HAAi and More

Last night, French Police and Riki played The Novo in Los Angeles. I ended up being the DJ for Klub Nocturno’s support set. It was a great night. Really, it was the best French Police show I’ve seen yet, super high energy from both the band and the crowd. I posted a recap, so if you want to know more or, if you were there and you just want to know what songs were in the DJ sets, click on the link below.

For those of you in L.A., my next DJ gig is this Sunday, October 19, for Salt Box Sessions inside Hello Stranger in Little Tokyo. This is an afternoon party and it’s stacked with great DJs playing all vinyl sets between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Salt Box is the record store inside the club Hello Stranger, so be prepared to do some digging while you’re there.

And, don’t forget to get your tickets for Halloween at Club Underground. Both floors of the Grand Star will be open on Friday, October 31. Dress to impress because there will be a costume contest.
Over on Beatique this week, I interviewed HAAi, the London-based DJ/producer whose gorgeous sophomore album, HUMANiSE, is out now on Mute.

I also wrote about the new R. Crumb show, his first exhibition in L.A. since 2009.

And there’s a little essay about English duo Bob Vylan, who recently released a single with the Daria-referencing, all-too-appropriate title “Sick Sad World.”

That’s it for now. See you on the dance floor soon!
