Club Underground Tonight + New Music and Old TV Shows
Want to hit the dance floor tonight? Head to Club Underground at Grand Star Jazz Club in Chinatown. I’ll be in the DJ booth tonight with a mix of new indie and darkwave, plus classic post-punk, new wave, Britpop and more. Tickets are available now on Dice, but you can also purchase them at the door. Party starts at 9:30 p.m. and it’s 21+.
Speaking of Club Underground, tickets are already on sale for Halloween. Join us on Friday, October 31, where both floors of the Grand Star will be open and we’ll be playing a huge mix of tunes.
Over on Beatique this week, I talked to Colin Newman (Wire) and Malka Spigel (Minimal Compact) about their latest album as Immersion. It’s a good one and it’s called WTF??, which is about as 2025 an album title as you can get.

There are also reviews of new albums from Molly Nilsson and Ultra Sunn on the blog this week.

Finally, since it’s October and you might be a bit more interested in vampires, witches and demon spawn than normal, I wanted to remind you that all 1200+ episodes of Dark Shadows, the greatest soap opera to ever air on television, are available to watch on Tubi. I watched the entire series a couple years ago and wrote a summary of what you will get yourself into. It’s a lot.

That’s it for now. See you on the dance floor!
