## THE WEEK GIST IN REVIEW ### [Core Developers! All eyes on docs now](https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-3110rc2/) The official release of Python 3.11 is planned for Monday, 24th October 2022 following the released second candidate (3.11.0rc2) and the last planned release preview in the 3.11 series.
Don't get too excited, 3.11.0rc2 is a preview release and is not recommended for production environments. However, from this point forward, [there will be no API changes and the goal is that there will be as few code changes as possible](https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-3110rc2/). Want to hear what's even exciting? 😁Pay attention to the release trends, no doubt, there's been a significant increase in Python runtime speed. Compare it with C++ and be marveled. According to an analysis by Dennis Bakhuis, [the possibility is that Python 3.14 will be faster than C++](https://technoblender.com/python-3-14-will-be-faster-than-c-by-dennis-bakhuis-sep-2022/). Ridiculous, isn't it?😂 I hope you find it worth reading 🤗. ## STUFF THAT IS WORTH YOUR READ ### [ETH switched from POW to POS](https://decrypt.co/109724/what-ethereum-merge-means-and-doesnt-users?amp=1) Ethereum is now a proof-of-stake (PoS) network.
'The Merge' was finalized on September 15, 2022. The good part is no significant change in ETH price even with the huge change.
[The 'Not-so-Good' news is the gas fee is not going down](https://www.blocknative.com/blog/will-the-merge-lower-gas-fees) ## Club Update - The Ibadan Techies Club is on a verge of Partnership agreement finalization with The [Developers Health Initiative](https://www.developerhealth.org/) to foster Tech Community accessibility in Africa.
Hopefully this week, we should make the official announcement.
The Developer Funds Initiative is backed and funded by [G2i](https://www.g2i.co/). - The Club is currently experiencing a break in its activities to resolve some glitches.
Very soon we should announce the dates for the rest of the meetups this year, together with other great news. ## SHOUTOUT TO OUR BACKERS This club and all its activities are backed by [Jason Palmer](https://twitter.com/palmerj3), [Mark Mayor](https://twitter.com/marktechson) and [Ije Nwoke](https://twitter.com/ije_nwok).
See you Next time!
