IBTC FridayOut Newsletter#10
Wazzaaaaping friends!
I missed you last Friday,
Last week was an hectic week for not only me but the club altogether. We had only a week to rest for the next meetup which held last Saturday. To make matter worse, The students of the university of Ibadan completely blocked the Ojoo-UI road during their protest.
We apologize to all who could not attend or were heavily impacted by the gridlock.

THE WEEK IN REVIEW
Another tech bubble is here, the most popular was the dot-com bubble, right in our eyes in 2022. The stocks are down, crypto is down, NFT sales too and VCs funds are dwindling 😥. The last was termed dot-com bubble, since the cause of this is the end of free money - free money isn't free again, may be we can call it tech cracker instead of the bubble.
For the past 3 years, tech jobs have been on the increase with even the crazier part accompanied with multiple increases in salary. The rush to have a share in the free money may be ending.
Well the tech ecosystem is becoming saturated like we discussed in the last meetup at Ibadan Techies Club, and there seem to be a tougher time ahead of us. The difficult pill to swallow is getting the first tech job might become more difficult than it was before.
Enough of the sad part already, there is hope. Since Rose survived the first dot-com bubble, you should take her advice on what to do to survive this cracker seriously. As a start up or business owner who would be seeking funds this time, David Sacks forecast and advice would be something you would want to look into also.
Permit me to quickly drop the news as he dey hot: Samuel Akinosho. Instances like this and more is what we will discuss next week ( a quick search of the name on twitter will give you a glimpse of the gist though). But the moral of study is free money in tech is ending for real.
STUFF THAT ARE WORTH YOUR READ

How FedEx Logo influenced React Logo
Designs can be simple, subtle and at the same time great at creating the exact impression. Designs like this stick with the users.
React Logo that won't leave your memory has these attributes thanks to FedEx. If you are a designer, this is a must read. -
Cases on how to efficiently use React key
React key can sound very simple not until you start reading about how it can heavily affect your lists if done wrong. In search for answers one stumbles on "why React keys have to be unique", and then "why not to use unique keys" again 😟.
My point is naming convention for react keys can sometime be hectic. This article will make you a React key master.
CLUB UPDATE
-
Last meetup number was heavily impaired by the students protest.
We are putting plans on how to control such behaviour in the future, if possible we could change venue going forward. Always look forth to our newsletter for meetups update. -
Next meetup: We haven't reached the conclusion for the next meetup. This is because The Community Lead, Kelvinsekx, would be having multiple meetings with the club's backers. These meetings are scheduled for next week.
Our next meetup however would most probably be on last Saturday this month or the first Saturday from next month. -
Ibadan Techies Club WhatsApp Group : We created a WhatsApp group for alert and quick information purpose.
This came as a consensus from last meetup held on Saturday, May 14, 2022. The reason is to serve as a quick channel to send information to our members, this we believed could have quickly helped to communicate alternative routes to our venue during last meetup gridlock. Please join the WhatsApp group.
