Republicans are now trying to shovel $140 billion to ICE and Border Patrol through reconciliation -- a legislative process that bypasses the filibuster, and thus would allow them to do this without any Democratic votes.

While Americans struggle to afford healthcare, food, and gas, Republicans want to pad the slush funds of these violent, unaccountable agencies. But we’re not accepting this as a done deal. We’re going to organize even harder to toxify and block this bill.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court allowed the Calais decision to go into effect immediately. Usually all decisions take at least 30 days. This is blatant racism. But we should not and cannot despair. As was noted by Hubble today,

“But neither history nor algorithmic gerrymandering dictates the results in the midterms. Case in point: Reader Len Lubinsky publishes a deeply researched Substack on US elections called Len’s Political Notes. Len posted the following in today’s Comment section:

I have taken a look at the Florida gerrymander (not yet signed by DeSantis). Of the four targeted Democrats intended to make Florida 24-4 instead of 20-8, not one is an automatic Republican win.

What’s more I have identified eight Florida seats currently held by Republicans that would not be immune to being flipped in a Democratic wave.
