Donald Trump is trying to tighten his grip on the Postal Service before the midterm elections, and the Senate is poised to make it happen.

His two corporate insider and donor nominees to the USPS Board of Governors, Jeffrey Brodsky and William Gallo, passed a vote out of committee and are on their way to the floor for a confirmation vote by the full Senate. This will be our last chance to stop Trump’s postal board takeover attempt before the midterm election.

Let’s be clear, the postal board has enormous power over mail processing, delivery standards, and postal leadership, and is the system responsible for carrying millions of ballots to voters across the country.

Trump has already pushed schemes to block mail ballots, restrict vote by mail, and force the Postal Service into carrying out his political agenda. Putting his nominees on the Board would put election mail in even greater danger while opening the door to more mail slowdowns, higher prices, and piecemeal privatization and outsourcing.

The Senate can still stop this power grab before Brodsky and Gallo gain control over one of the most important institutions in American democracy.

Tell your Senators to vote NO on the confirmations of Jeffrey Brodsky and William Gallo and protect the USPS from Trump’s election schemes and privatization plans.

Trump has already tried to force USPS to withhold mailing ballots to anyone not on a Department of Homeland Security list of verified citizens, and was only recently stopped by a federal judge’s injunction.

While the courts have blocked his first attempt, Trump is dead set on attacking vote by mail and a postal board majority could help him do it.

Neither one of his nominees has any postal experience or expertise, and neither has demonstrated a clear commitment to protecting and expanding the nation’s most cherished public institution.

Send your message demanding the Senate reject Jeffrey Brodsky and William Gallo now.
