September 2025 Update: Getting Back Up To Speed

PICTURED: A teaser of Charybdis, one of Update 2’s upcoming new monsters! Art by Pacha!

Happy September, everyone! I’ve always been a bigtime autumn fan, so I’m stoked that we’re moving out of the hot months into the cooler-but-not-yet-completely-cold months. Let’s get into the update!

Monstrous Liberation Work

Monstrous Liberation’s first major content update was very well-received, which was great to see! We got some nice new reviews, and the sales were just a little bit better than what I had been hoping for, which is always nice. After the update launch, Pacha and I both took a couple of weeks away from working on the game to recharge and focus on other things in our respective lives. This means that there’s not quite so much to share this month in terms of work that’s ready to show, but that’s how it goes sometimes.

On my end, I’ve gotten the whole asset list for the update roughed out, which included descriptions and reference for a new character concept, a list of new sprites, and rough descriptions for six new full-length sex scenes and the end-of-update scene, which is gonna be a real doozy. Next month I intend to go through those sex scenes and add detailed descriptions and reference as appropriate.

On Pacha’s end, she’s gotten down some really strong sketches for the new character (Charybdis, teased above), and has also gotten a start on sprites for another character.

From The Blog

We’ve almost finished publishing all of the web versions of the AAA3 essays! Exciting stuff! I guess next month I’ll have to get back to blogging for myself, huh?

  • An Interview With The Creators Of “The Vow” - A very special treat for you and me both: I have a lovely extended talk with BP Games collaborators Arden & Julian about their dark erotic fantasy comic “The Vow”!

  • Sex And Color In Scarlet Maiden - MxMorganic’s essay from the third issue of AAA!

  • Bad End: The Seduction Of “Game Over” - Morgan K’s essay from the third issue of AAA!

  • She’s Nobody’s Woman, Literally: A Deep-Dive Into The NTR Genre & Why It’s Everywhere - Leo G.’s essay from the third issue of AAA!

  • I Am The Trigger: What Adult Games Can Learn From Fandom - Lindsay Ishihiro’s essay from the third issue of AAA!

  • They Should Make ‘Em All Like This: The Hardcoded Review - My second essay from the third issue of AAA!

A Somewhat More Urgent Patreon/Substar Reminder

A cropped version of this month’s exclusive subscriber art, which features Nadia exploring Sasha’s hobby of cosplay!

If you can spare a few bucks a month, it would really mean a lot if you’d consider subscribing to either our Patreon or Subscribestar pages. After four months of regularly updating these pages, we have a grand total of six paying subscribers on Patreon and two on Subscribestar (and Subscribestar doesn’t even start collecting money from your subscribers until you have at least five). Not only is this Pretty Demoralizing, we do genuinely need money if we’re going to keep making the kinds of games, writing, and other projects you enjoy (the bump we get from major updates is nice, but those are 6-7 months apart). We do polls! We give sneak peeks to upcoming scenes! We have exclusive art! Please consider supporting us!

The Consumption Stumption

Playing 1: Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to pick up Santa Monica Studio's God of War (2018), having never played a God of War game before in my life. My verdict: it’s fine! It makes my PS4’s cooling fan whir like a jet engine and it’s kind of Baby’s First Video Game, but it’s Fine. It’s something to play on the couch. The whole thing absolutely hangs off the chemistry between Christopher Judge’s Kratos and Sunny Suljic’s Atreus.

Playing 2: On my Steam Deck, I’ve been really enjoying Suspicious Developments’ Tactical Breach Wizards. It’s such a delightful little package: tightly-designed, easy to grasp, and brilliantly-written. It’s always such a rare treat to play a game that tries to be funny and succeeds. Highly recommend checking this one out.

Watching 1: I got a chance to see Martin Scorsese’s 1980 masterwork Raging Bull at VIFF this month, and it was sublime. Definitely one of those movies where I don’t think I’ll ever feel the need to watch it again, but absolutely spellbinding. Incredible shot composition, a career-high performance from De Niro, and impossible to look away from. Marty makes a helluva picture!

Watching 2: In a somewhat less-rarefied vein, I recently discovered Studio Mother’s There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless…. Don’t let the wordy light-novel-ass title throw you, this is top-tier stuff. Funny, raw, extremely romantic, great theme. And it’s available entirely for free on YouTube!

Wrapping Up

That brings us to the end of another update! Hopefully we’ll have more to share next month, but until then: thank you so much for following BP Games and enjoying the things we create!
