MONSTROUS LIBERATION OUT NOW (Also: March 2025 Update)

Happy March, everyone! Here in Vancouver we’re starting to see flowers starting to poke up through the ground and blossoms starting to bud on the trees - in between our torrential spring rains. Big big big update today! Let’s get to it.
Monstrous Liberation Has Released!
As of this moment, right now, this very second, Monstrous Liberation, the new isekai-flavored monsterfucking sandbox adult visual novel from BP Games, the studio that brought you Opportunity: A Sugar Baby Story, is available to purchase on Steam and Itch!!! This is a day that’s felt as though it’s been a VERY long time coming for us, so we hope you’ll enjoy what our hard work has produced!
I’d like to be as blunt as possible for a moment: it is very important for us that the Monstrous Liberation launch go as well as possible. We are not currently supported by any form of crowdfunding; all of the work we do is funded solely by selling the things we make. Our financial resources are currently VERY tight - Pacha is not getting paid enough, and I’m not getting paid at all. We still use royalty-free photos as our scene backgrounds, and the game’s soundscape is all royalty-free music and sound effects. Having more money would allow us to bring part-time collaborators like Julian on to do more art would allow us to produce updates more quickly, and finish the game more quickly. Having more money would allow us to hire contractors to replace the royalty-free photos and music with bespoke assets. Having more money would allow us to pay Pacha what she’s worth and pay me, well, a little bit. I would like to be paid, even if it’s just a little bit.
If you’re a regular reader of the newsletter or the blog, I’m hoping that means you value the games we make, the anthologies I edit, and/or the writing I produce, and would like for some or all of that to continue happening. Assuming that’s the case, here are the ways you can help the Monstrous Liberation launch go as well as it can:
Purchase the game (again, on either Steam or Itch) and leave a positive review (5 stars on Itch). THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO. IT HAS AN OUTSIZED EFFECT ON OUR STOREFRONT VISIBILITY. The sooner the better, also - on launch day is best, but within the launch week at very least.
Obviously, simply purchasing the game during the launch week is very helpful. Not as much as purchasing and leaving a positive review, but a lot depends on whether we can make it onto the Popular New Releases tab on Steam and the “Popular” tab of Itch’s “Adult” section (and how long we can remain there). Again, earlier is better here - purchasing on launch day is best!
If you can’t purchase the game right now, no judgment! You can still help us a lot by endorsing the game and posting it in communities - Discord servers, forums, etc - where it might find fans. This could include communities based around porn, porn games, visual novels, comics, genre writing, or indie games (this is presuming those last ones are chill with adult content). Also, if you’re a regular viewer of any lewdtubers or adult game reviewers, asking them to play/cover Monstrous Liberation would be a huge help!
Finally, sharing the posts I make about the game on Bluesky and Twitter is a perfectly-acceptable way to help out. Every little bit helps!
Once again, you can purchase (and, hopefully, leave a positive review for) Monstrous Liberation on Steam and Itch!
But That’s Not All: Bundle Time

I would of course be remiss if didn’t mention that Monstrous Liberation is launching at the same time as BBBen’s Lord Goblin! Lord Goblin is a fantasy-themed time-management visual novel about the titular Goblin as he becomes a powerful lord with a coterie of buxom wenches at his beck and call. And, since both BP Games and BBBen are on the TinyHat label, our games are also in a discounted bundle together! Please consider picking up the bundle, and please enjoy this lovely promo art by the wonderful NanTets!
Monstrous Liberation Work

In terms of work on the upcoming first post-launch update, work has been slower than I’d like. This was partly due to illness on both mine and Pacha’s parts - she came down with a nasty cold, I was struck with an apocalyptic case of Norovirus.

The other factor was that it’s been a month heavily-focused on promotion work. The Monstrous Liberation demo launched on February 24th to coincide with Steam’s NEXTfest event, and performed exceptionally-well (as evidenced by the above screenshot). The demo was also extremely well-received on Itch, spending several days near the top of the Adult charts. And then after the demo launch there’s a million little tasks to take care of ahead of the actual Early Access launch. As important as launches are, they’re a massive headache and always take up way more bandwidth than I’m expecting.
Nevertheless, some progress has been made! On my end, I finished up the last little bit of the asset planning, mapped out the high-level story beats for all of the scripts in the update, and got started with the actual work of script-writing! I’m currently about 2,000 words in, which is about 5% of the projected 40k wordcount for the update.
And on Pacha’s end, she finalized the sprites for Shrill, our harpy character! I love Shrill a lot, I think Pacha did a wonderful job capturing the combination of madness and elegance that exists within the true heart of all birds and birdlike creatures. She’s also made a good start on the sprites for our last new character, who I’m excited to share with you in our next update!
Adult Analysis Anthology Work

Since pitch submissions closed, I’ve been e-mailing back and forth with those writers whose pitches were selected for inclusion in AAA’s third issue! There are TWELVE this time around - some are writers whose work has appeared in previous issues of AAA, some are writers whose work will be appearing in AAA for the first time, but all of them have wonderful, exciting pitches! Said pitches have been refined and finalized, which means I’m all ready to start putting the Indiegogo campaign for this issue together. By the time next month’s update rolls around, said Indiegogo campaign should be launched and in full swing! I’m looking forward to sharing this issue’s essayists and their pitches with you!
From The Blog
As promised, now that the backlog of AAA web essays has run dry, the blog is back to just being little old me and my writing.
Opportunity Retrospective Part 7: The Development Process - An exhaustive look at how Pacha, myself, and our collaborators take a game from concept to launch.
Opportunity Retrospective Part 8: Getting Sexual With It - A whole lot of opinions from yours truly about the creation of porn. Some of said opinions even pertain to Opportunity!
Those two essays were real doozies, by the way. The whole retrospective project has been a lot of fun, but my God is the wordcount ever out of control - over 27,000 words and I’m still not done! It’ll likely come to a close over the next month, after which I’m hoping to collect it in a PDF and offer it as a value-add on Itch.
The Consumption Stumption
Watching: I’ve been working my way through FX’s adaption of James Clavell’s Shogun recently. It is SHOCKINGLY good. It’s gorgeously-shot and sumptuously-costumed, not to mention beautifully-lit. Television can look amazing if you put in the work, as it turns out! There’s not a single weak link in the cast - Cosmo Jarvis, Anna Sawai, and Hiroyuki Sanada all turn in virtuoso performances. My favorite by far, however, is Tadanobu Asano’s turn as the much-suffering Kashigi Yabushige.
Reading: This month I did myself the great kindness of finally reading Abbadon’s Kill Six Billion Demons. What an ASTONISHINGLY good comic. It’s been a WHILE since I’ve encountered a work of fiction with such scalding contempt for understatement. Every page is an effusive expression of the very deepest love for comics as a medium. Cannot recommend it highly enough. A true masterwork.
Playing: It seems like there’s been a real glut of excellent games coming out recently! Following my bout with the Norovirus I decided to treat myself to Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed, and what a treat it’s been. This is Obsidian operating at the very top of their game - a lush, gorgeous experience filled to bursting with charming characters and secrets to discover. Everything you like about games like Skyrim but with all the cruft shaved away into a true best-in-class experience. On my Steam Deck I’ve recently started Ivy Road’s Wanderstop and have been having a great time with it despite being only about three hours in so far. This one’s also a feast for the eyes, folks - each character design is overflowing with personality, and the Wanderstop tea house itself is every inch as expressive. Really looking forward to getting deeper into this one.
Wrapping Up
I warned you this would be a big one! Anyways, that does it for March’s update. We’ll be back next month to let you know how the MonLib launch went, and hopefully a lot more to share about the coming update and the AAA crowdfunding campaign! For the final time, please purchase and leave a positive review for Monstrous Liberation on Steam or Itch. As always, thank you so much for following BP Games and enjoying the things we create!
