January 2025 Update: Kicking Things Off Late

Happy January, everyone! For better or for worse, we’re in 2025 now! Sorry for being a couple of days late with this one - my only excuse is that I’ve yet to get a new wall calendar and it completely slipped my mind. Let’s get to the update.
Monstrous Liberation Work
First off, an update to the Monstrous Liberation launch date - Monstrous Liberation will now be launching on Steam Early Access and Itch on MARCH 17TH, 2025. The decision to move the launch date was made so that we could have a demo appear in the upcoming Steam NEXTfest - so, you’ll still be able to have your first taste of Monstrous Liberation on February 24th, but you’ll have to wait until March for the rest! We’ll also be launching as a bundle with another game on the TinyHat label, so look out for that!
As for the game itself - 100% ready for launch! Pacha got the very last of the splash art and necessary fixes in to me this week, I got those in, and everything’s working like it should! It’s in the can! Wishlist Monstrous Liberation on Steam please!
There isn’t a huge amount of work to report beyond that for this update, simply because both Pacha and I took a good amount of time off to celebrate the holidays and also just fucking chill after working on MonLib’s launch version for so long. However, we’re now getting back into the swing of things. Pacha will start with some adjustments and refinements to the character concepts for the new monster characters coming in the first update, while I’ll be going full-tilt on asset planning and reference creation.
From The Blog
We’re still humming along on the blog front! Here’s what’s gone up over the past month:
Opportunity Retrospective Part 3: Jacqueline & Her Family - The retrospective series continues with in-depth looks at all of the members of the cast, starting with our heroine and her closest relations.
Opportunity Retrospective Part 4: Roman, Olive, and Olive’s Family - The retrospective moves on to look at Jacqueline’s closest lovers (plus Olive’s kid and husband).
Fifty-Three Changes To Come When I Am The King Of Porn - I got a little silly on my Bluesky account while on break from doing actual game work, penning a manifesto of sorts about all the improvements I’d make to the world if only given the reins.
The Dynamics Of Sex In The Rance Series - Eithi’s essay from the second issue of AAA!
What Makes A Game Storefront NSFW-Friendly? - MadCreativity’s essay from the second issue of AAA!
Cumming Together: Lewdtubing, Eroge, And Community - LewdNeko’s essay from the second issue of AAA!
One final note about the blog: the last of the AAA issue republishing will wrap over the next month, and once that’s completed I’m looking to have an announcement ready about plans for the next issue! Look forward to that!
The Consumption Stumption
Watching 1: Over the holiday season, my friend Janine aired daily holiday-themed movies for our Discord server. However, these were no “A Wonderful Life”s or “Muppet Christmas Carol”s, no. These were only the rankest of Hallmark, Lifetime, and StackTV slop. These things are SO foul. Truly the products of diseased minds, created for the lowest dregs of humanity to consume. The least offensive of the lot was, for me, Private Princess, which was extremely stupid but at least kind of fun in parts. I do think that it’s important to knowingly consume bad art as part of a healthy media diet but, y’all, some of these flicks Tested me.
Watching 2: It wasn’t ALL quasi-fascist Americana for me over the holidays, thank goodness. I watched The Long Good Friday, Bob Hoskins’ first major film role, and fucking loved it. Hoskins is magnetic, a raging miniature gorilla of pure charisma, and the soundtrack fucking boinks too. Can’t recommend it enough if you’re a fan of gangster cinema or just good movies in general.
Watching 3: Lotta movies, huh? I told you, I was fuckin’ chilling! Hundreds of Beavers is one of the funniest fucking movies I’ve watched in years. You truly owe it to yourself to watch this one. This thing has jokes for DAYS. It is genuinely so refreshing to watch something that’s pure slapstick sight-gag boobery, obsessed with one-upping itself at every turn. Pure joy.
Playing: I’m lucky enough to have very kind friends who showered me in games from my Steam wishlist for Christmas, and have been delighting in working my way through the pile. I’m currently extremely engrossed in Eremite Games’s Against The Storm, which might be the most fun I’ve EVER had with a real-time citybuilder. On my Steam Deck I’ve been alternating between Black Tabby Games’s Slay The Princess and Darya Noghani’s Small Saga, enjoying the heck out of both.
Wrapping Up
That does it for January’s update! Again, apologies for the delay! I’ll see you in February - as always, thank you so much for following BP Games and enjoying the things we create!
