Hello. Spring is in the air, and there are exciting new happenings at Burntwood Memorial Institute, and across Burntwood.
I wanted to quickly highlight an event, some of you might be interested in, in Lichfield organised by Stitchety a fabulous fabrics artist who does loads of community focussed activities. On 24th April, she launches Stitchety Cinema in conjunction with Yarny Bees. A showing of the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice where you are encouraged to bring your crafting project to work on during the film. Stitchety and Yarny Bees will be on hand to offer any help or tips with your crafting. Doors open at 6pm.
Song Sung Blue - 21st April at 2pm
Join us at Burntwood Afternoon Cinema on Tuesday 21st April for Song Sung Blue, a warm and uplifting film based on a true story. Starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, it tells the story of two ordinary people who find unexpected joy, love and a new sense of purpose through music. It’s a heartfelt, feel-good film with plenty of charm, and a very decent choice for an afternoon at the cinema.
At its heart, Song Sung Blue is a story about second chances, companionship and the way music can bring people together. Inspired by a real-life Neil Diamond tribute act, it has a generous, hopeful spirit and real affection for its characters. For anyone who enjoys films that are funny, touching and full of warmth, this should make for a very enjoyable afternoon out.
This is one quite a few of you have been asking about ever since the film was first announced. As soon as it was available for community screenings, we booked it. When you drop hints that frequently, it’s the least we can do to follow up.
If you fancy a good film and a civilised afternoon out, we’d be glad to see you. Tea and biscuits will be available from 1:30pm, with the screening starting at 2pm. Tickets are £5, available in advance from The Lichfield Garrick box office, by phone on 01543 412121, online at https://aard.at/bwoodfilms, or for cash on the door.
Burntwood Afternoon Cinema is a project of the Burntwood Memorial Community Association (BMCA).
