Paddington in Peru - at St Anne’s Church
Before I tell you about this month’s film, St Anne's Church in Chasetown will be showing "Paddington in Peru" on the evening of 27th March at 7:30pm. For those who enjoy both our cinema events and theirs, we've decided to postpone our own screening of this film (originally planned for the 18th).
We may still show "Paddington in Peru" later in the year, but if you're eager to see it sooner, I can recommend the wonderful group at St Anne's.
Wicked - 18th March 2025 at 2pm
We're thrilled to invite you to our February screening of "Wicked" (2024), the first part of the highly anticipated film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical.
This visually stunning production brings to life the untold story of the witches of Oz, exploring the unlikely friendship between Elphaba, who later becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good. With powerhouse performances from Cynthia Erivo as the misunderstood green-skinned Elphaba and Ariana Grande as the popular Glinda, the film takes you on a magical journey through their time at Shiz University, complete with spectacular musical numbers and dazzling costumes.
Directed by John M. Chu, "Wicked" offers a fresh perspective on characters we thought we knew from "The Wizard of Oz," blending humour, heart, and soaring musical performances that will leave you humming the tunes for days.
As always, our doors open at 1:30pm, giving you plenty of time to catch up with friends, enjoy a cuppa and biscuits, and settle in before the film begins. Remember, Burntwood Afternoon Cinema isn't just about watching films—it's about coming together as a community and sharing the experience.
Tickets are £5. You can buy online at https://aard.at/bwoodfilms, on the phone at 01543 412121, or in cash on the door.
