The Penguin Lessons - Tuesday 15th July at 2pm

We're delighted to welcome you back to Burntwood Memorial Institute on Tuesday 15th July for our summer screening of "The Penguin Lessons", a wonderfully heartwarming comedy-drama that's perfect for beating the summer heat in our cool, comfortable hall. Steve Coogan delivers a brilliant performance as a rather world-weary English teacher in 1970s Argentina whose life is completely transformed when he finds himself caring for an emperor penguin. Based on Tom Michell's beloved memoir and directed by Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty), this charming tale combines gentle humour with genuinely touching moments about friendship, courage, and the unexpected ways life can surprise us.

This delightful film proves that the best stories often come from the most unlikely places - and sometimes our greatest teachers have feathers! With its perfect blend of laughs and heart, "The Penguin Lessons" offers exactly the kind of uplifting entertainment that makes our monthly gatherings so special. As always, we'll have the kettle on from 1:30pm for tea, biscuits, and a good chat before the film begins at 2pm. We look forward to seeing familiar faces and welcoming new friends for what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

You can buy online at https://aard.at/bwoodfilms, on the phone at 01543 412121, or in cash on the door.
