Mr Burton - Tuesday 19th August at 2pm

Join us for our next screening at the Burntwood Afternoon Cinema on Tuesday, 19th August, at 2pm, where we'll be showing "Mr Burton". This impressive and heartfelt film tells the true story of how a young Welsh schoolboy, Richard Jenkins, was set on the path to global stardom by his inspirational teacher, Philip Henry Burton. It's a fascinating look at the early life of a screen legend, set against the authentic backdrop of a 1940s industrial mining community in South Wales.

With stellar performances from Toby Jones as the dedicated teacher and Harry Lawtey as the young Burton, the film has been praised for its engrossing story and wonderfully nuanced acting. It’s a solid, well-told tale of ambition, talent, and the profound impact a mentor can have. So, come and join us for an afternoon of engaging entertainment, good company, and, of course, a proper cuppa with biscuits, served from 1:30pm.

You can buy online at https://aard.at/bwoodfilms, on the phone at 01543 412121, or in cash on the door.

Movie poster for "Mr. Burton" showing three main cast members - BAFTA winner Toby Jones on the left wearing glasses and a suit, Harry Lawtey in the centre in casual clothing against a rural backdrop, and Academy Award nominee Lesley Manville on the right. Text indicates the film is "Based on a True Story."
