What will you see at BLON?

This September, the big screen at BLON fills with animation from around the world – different voices, techniques, stories and ways of seeing the world.

At the heart of this year's animation programme are five competition programmes, with feature films, special screenings and plenty of premieres.

The BLON competition programmes are a chance to discover what is happening in animation right now – from new talents finding their voice to established filmmakers pushing the medium in unexpected directions.

Expect personal stories and absurd humour, bold experiments and beautifully crafted worlds, films that tackle what is happening around us and others that turn their attention inward.

What does Lithuanian animation look like today?

Personal and experimental, sometimes tender, sometimes absurd, speaking about what is happening around us and inside us. From memorable work by emerging filmmakers to films by experienced animation authors, the programme brings together different generations, techniques and approaches to storytelling.

And this year, seven films will have their Lithuanian premieres at BLON.

Nine animated shorts explore life shaped by war, migration, family memory, identity and the longing for connection – through intimate stories, imagination, absurd humour and bold animation.
