If you can read this …

I have some good news this week. Kids are reading!! A recent report from the American Library Association found that Gen-Zers buy and read an average of two print books each month. Two a month! And more than half of those kids visited a library in the past 12 months. That might not seem like a lot, but when so many Debbie Downers are telling me that kids don’t read anymore, I think two books a month is fantastic! There are plenty of reasons for despair in today’s world, but the fact that kids are reading makes me feel better about the future.
And another thing. You may (or may not) have noticed something different about this week’s newsletter. I’m changing the service that sends these out for me. I’m really excited about the new service, but there’s always the possibility of errors when you make this kind of change. OK, there’s always the possibility of errors when I make this kind of change. As those of you who have been on this list from the start know, I’ve been known to muck things up on the tech front. So if you don’t mind, it would help me a lot if you’d respond to this email and let me know that you got it and alert me if anything about it looks weird — except, of course, the parts that are supposed to be weird.
Also, if you haven’t already, this would be a good time to put avery@averyhurt.com in your address book or preferred senders list or whatever it’s called in your email program, to make sure I don’t end up in your spam folder or promotions tab.
Finally, I want to sincerely thank you for being on this list. I enjoy writing these for you, and especially enjoy the responses you guys send.
Until next time,
Avery
