The Glass Garden is officially out!

Welcome to The Glass Garden’s launch week! I want to thank all of you for your support as this project came to fruition. My newest literary baby is now available wherever you buy books. Even some places you don’t. Like, for example, your local library. Go see if they have the book. If they have it, checking it out or putting a hold on it is a great way to show there’s an audience. If they don’t have a copy, you can politely suggest that they fix that.
Press Coverage
I wrote a guest post for fellow author Chuck Wendig’s blog, Terrible Minds. It’s called “Five Things I Learned Writing The Glass Garden,” and it’s exactly what it says on the tin. The other authors’ entries on the same theme make diverting and illuminating reads as well, so I suggest you check them out.
There’s a good review of the book at Reading Reality. There may be more out there, but I’m really trying to discipline myself not to seek out reviews of my book, to preserve my sanity in these trying times. That said, if you stumble upon a good one, please don’t hesitate to send it my way.
Upcoming Events
Next month, on June 12th, I’m doing an event at the Thomas Crane Public Library. Since I didn’t get to have any events the week my book was released, I have decided that this will be my launch party. I mean, we needed time to get the word of mouth building, amirite? And look at the title: “An Evening with Jessica Lévai.” Sounds so classy. I’ll try not to burp.
Further into the future, ReaderCon is happening July 17-20th, and I will be on the program in some capacity. What capacity? That is still to be determined, as is the exact dates I will be there, but I’m looking forward to it and hope maybe I’ll see some of you. It’s in a new location this year, which doesn’t thrill me because there are no public transit options, but I intend to have fun anyway.
Meanwhile, in the real world
On May 17th I tabled for Authors Against Book Bans at the BPL Book Festival in Roxbury. The event is over, I’m afraid, so you can’t meet me there, but I wanted to share a picture with you because I am very cute in it.

The thing is, while I celebrate my release, I must remember that the right to read freely is under attack in this country, and we need to fight back.
One last thing…
My latest obsession is the Donmar Warehouse proshot of Next to Normal, which aired this week as part of Great Performances. It’s an intense musical about mental illness (CW also for child death) and I couldn’t even finish the cast album back when I had a baby at home. But I watched the whole thing and I think it’s brilliant, if you are up for the subject matter. You can debate amongst yourselves if this is a work of supernatural horror, which is my headcanon. Just be prepared to have “I’m Alive” stuck in your head for the next few days or so.
Take care of yourselves, everyone!
