Pi Day and a belated celebration of the Blessing of Throats
Happy Pi Day!
I almost forgot to wear my pi shirt, but remembered in time.

It’s a Lenten Friday so I don’t see any pie for me today, but we missed rhubarb season last year so I should head to the store.
A new story for your ears
I am proud to announce my latest short fiction publication, this one in audio form! Head on over to Tales to Terrify to hear “The Feast of St. Blaise,” the story of a priest who develops a friendship with a woman whose voice has attracted… unwanted attention. It features the blessing of throats all the cool priests do on February 3rd, and I consider it part of my February cycle, along with the Candlemas story I wrote for this anthology and a Groundhog’s Day story some lucky people got on a postcard at my recent signings. Shout out to Father Albert Duggan for the sensitivity read!
The Glass Garden drops in 60 days!
If you haven’t had a chance to pre-order it, here’s the link to the publisher and here’s the link to Bookshop, which supports local indies. You can find the book at Barnes and Noble. It’s on Amazon, if you must. I’d rather you didn’t. There’s still a boycott on and that jackass has enough of your money.
Okay, yeah, I’m a little testy right now.
(Maybe almost as testy as this person.) You got me. It’s hard to psych myself up to promote my novella when people in my country are being disappeared for political speech, when the Department of Education is being dismantled and the Post Office in their sights. These are a few of my favorite things, and I have been on the horn to my elected representatives several times this week alone. I wrote letters to the presidents of my almae matres, William & Mary and Brown, reminding them not to submit to any of this segregationist crap. I’m about to send a letter to DOGE requesting copies of any personal info of mine they’ve gotten access to. I. Am. Tired.
But the hustle doesn’t stop, does it. If you know someone who might be interested in a novella of space horror and family drama, point the links their way. And if you don’t already have your elected reps’ numbers in your phones, 5calls.org can remedy that for you.
Other news
Yesterday I wrote the last words of the most recent draft of my newest novel. It’s ready for beta readers, if any are brave enough. For now I’m going to take a break and let the writing sit for a while before I read it again.
I’m also gearing up for some signings in the future. Next month I’ll be at Barnes & Noble in Hingham for their “Halfway to Halloween” event. And further ahead, in July, I’ll be doing a reading at Readercon in Burlington, MA. Keep an eye on my events page. With a new book coming, I’m about to get a whole lot busier, and I’d love to see as many of you as I can!
Enjoy your pi, and see you next month!
