Jessica Lévai's newsletter, now on Buttondown!
Hello, newsletter subscribers!
Good, you made it. I gotta be honest with you; setting up Buttondown was a bit of a challenge. But I think I've got it now, the important parts, anyway.
What's up with you? I recently did a bunch of revisions on a new piece so I find myself a bit creatively empty. When that happens, I like to go to the MFA to refuel. Of course, I can't go there without visiting my ex:
Onward! I have news for you.
New Publications
You will remember, you who read my previous newsletter, that I've been going through an extended dry spell. I'm happy to report that it is over, or at least temporarily suspended. My first new story in a long time has been published! Head on over to Riddlebird to read my short story, "The Completist." It's for anyone who's ever read anything by a favorite author and wanted... more. I'm super proud of it. If you like it, please tell others, especially on social media.
Speaking of favorite authors, last month was Tanuary, wherein I dedicate myself to reading new and favorite work by Tanith Lee. I wrote about this year's short story collection on my blog.
I also have another short story in the pipeline, and I will let you know when it's up and ready to read.
Upcoming Author Talk
I will be making an appearance at Romancing the Gothic's book club on March 22nd. Well, I totally plan to be at other meetings, because some of these books look so cool, but the 22nd is when they're reading Sternendach! If you want to join the fun, registration is handled here. Make sure you check your time zone, first.
Frederick's Birthday
It is a leap year, which means it's time to celebrate Frederick's birthday on the 29th of February. Last time, I had a bunch of friends over to watch The Pirates of Penzance. That was just before COVID hit for reals, remember? I don't have any plans this year, and the jazzed-up Broadway version doesn't arrive until 2025, so I'll just drop the link to a recording and you can celebrate in your own way.
Thanks for reading,
