I've been making memes.
Okay, that’s not true. I’ve been making image macros, which is the proper term for a graphic with text on it. A meme is an idea that spreads through imitation. An image macro can be an example of a meme. Words matter. Tell your friends.
Also, my 14yo told me the last one I posted wasn’t a meme, and certainly wasn’t “dank” so I will just keep amusing myself. Here’s an example:
I turned in my final edits for The Glass Garden, so now the text is on to layout. The cover concept has been chosen and the cover is being finalized. Pre-orders will open in a matter of weeks and I am so excited, I made this. You can see it a day early, lucky devils.
See, this is fun! And I’m certainly not posting images because I have something important to talk about and want to soften anybody up, no sir, that’s just not me.
For my readers in the US who are eligible and registered to vote, I’m sure you agree with me that this election cycle has been even less fun than usual. I’ve been trying to channel my anxiety in the usual way: writing letters to potential voters. This year I wrote 215 of them, and I only stopped because I ran out of envelopes and stamps. Oh, and I cast my mail-in ballot as soon as I could. Let’s hope it reduces the amount of junk mail I get.
This election wouldn’t be so nerve-racking if the stakes weren’t so high. That guy cannot be president again. There are a lot of aspects to this, but as a writer, I’m worried because there are people out there with a plan to classify good books (probably including mine) as pornography and have them banned. As a friend of libraries and librarians, I have seen the crap that’s come their way and I certainly don’t want it to get worse. (Follow the link above if you don’t believe me. I wouldn’t believe me.)
So I’m asking you, if you’re registered, please vote in this election. Don’t neglect the down-ballot races. Politicians only care about people who vote, so make ‘em care about you. Maybe write some letters yourself, if you’re so inclined. I can’t stress enough how important this is, though other comics in the collection can. (The weather! Really!)
Or you can just listen to Mankind, Mick Foley.
To thank you for listening and proactively for your action, I’ll just leave you with this:
OK, that’s all I made. I’m done.
Love you all,
