I'm Nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award!

Omigod, omigod, omigod, everyone, just a quick note because I’ve been sitting on this news for a hot minute and I am finally allowed to share it with you. The Glass Garden, my novella of cosmic horror and family drama, has been nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award! You can see the list of all the nominees here. This is my first time being nominated, and also the first time my publisher, Lanternfish Press, has been nominated. Yay!
Looks like this good-luck charm I found on the sidewalk last week still had some juice in it.

The awards will be given out at ReaderCon, and wouldn’t you know it, I was gonna be there anyway! Anyone else thinking they might attend?
Upcoming release date change
My next publication, a story titled “Ring of Wax, Armor of Bone” is forthcoming in Flame Tree Press’s Of Swords and Roses anthology. The original release date was June, but now it looks like it’s coming out July 14th.
Love books? Call your reps!
Since I have your attention, and as a member of Authors Against Book Bans, I shall add here a reminder to call your representatives in Congress, because there are no fewer than 3 bills active that would ban books. Maggie Tokuda-Hall posted a great graphic by Jerrold Connors that lays them out succinctly.
Member of @authorsabb.bsky.social @jerroldconnors.bsky.social came through in the best way and assembled this for us all! Know thine shitty bills!

So it’s time to log on to 5calls.org and tell your reps what for!
Okay, that’s all for now. Enjoy these last weeks of Spring!
