Queso on the side

Coming at ya with a bit of a Freaky Friday salutation!

The Artist at work

I keep telling people I’m going to figure out this capacity and my eyes being bigger than my stomach situation on what I can and cannot reasonably handle by the time I hit 45.

And then I do a quick mind math to recalculate exactly when that would be.

On even years, I turn an odd number, so on odd years I turn an even number, so for those keeping track, this Scorpio season will number 44 for me. So ahhhh… I still have time!

My therapist told me that our bodies change as we get older, and it’s acceptable to expect we might need to adapt to a new reality.

But I want to eat all the queso I want to eat with the number of chips in the perfect ratio to my bucket of hot cheese!

Oh dear, am I mixing in too many metaphors here?

Well, the good news is, I am mostly holding it together all things considered and hoping this email finds you able to hone in on some glimmers of joy you’ve been able to experience or witness this week.

I’m happy to report it’s been 21 days since my last panic attack, and I am feeling good with my pacing and tasks in the studio.

Of course, I’m putting some things on the back burner to keep calm and carry on, but I simply must trust that what will get done, will get done when it will and that my efforts will carry me through.

Please enjoy some of these other Studio Utopia Updates -

  • I had the pleasure of having Queericana reviewed by a reporter at the Minnesota Star Tribune! It was truly a pleasure to have such a lovely write up about my work. As a reminder the show is up through September 20th so go see if you haven’t had a chance yet!

  • Speaking of Queericana, I got my proofs back from their professional photo session and my website portfolio has been updated! If you haven’t had a chance to see the paintings or aren’t a member of my Ko-Fi Club you can now enjoy the series!

  • I squeezed in a class on a Hungarian embroidery technique which was really a highlight of the week!

  • September and October seem to be grant application season and I’m squeezing in writing and applying for things to support the work, while also prepping new works for my upcoming Duo show with my friend Ilaamen Pelshaw that will go up in November!

Speaking of sneak peeks for that show, you can see those works emerging on my Ko-Fi site for members only, but I’ll show off some of the thrills of the cutting station as I work to keep pushing the limits of my quilted paintings!
