ArtAtomic: Art+Science+Code by Kristin Henry

Welcome!

October was a busy month. For the annual Inktober daily drawing challenge, I created my own prompts with lots of Biology themes. All of these drawings are now in public posts on my Patreon and Ko-fi.

I had so much fun with these drawing prompts, that I created a fun little tool that randomly chooses science themed prompts. If you enjoy such things, it's free to play with on itch.com.  I've designed the code to keep it easy for me to add to the list of prompts, so I'll probably be adding more.

I met Samantha Bee!

I knew I might get a chance to meet Samantha Bee before her show, so I dusted off an old prototype project and got it print-ready...so that I could gift it to her. Of all the people who might appreciate a chart with all the different colored jackets she wore in her show (Full Frontal), it would be her.

She liked it!  And I turned into a giddy 4-year-old fan-girl. I was so goofy! It was lovely!

The Maker Faire 2023

Wow, that was a fantastic and exhausting three days. Had some great conversations and sold some art.

The booth space was huge! Which came in handy when there were people waiting to talk with me or buy my art.

One confusion that lots of folks had, was that they assumed "generative" was to do with AI. That, sadly, implies that the AI-image-generator tools have had effective PR and have taken the word from a pre-existing art movement that's been around for decades. So, I may drop "generative" from in-person descriptions of my art but keep it in online descriptions. It really bugs me, though, that these companies not only steal the work of artist, but also the name of a whole art movement. I've seen some switching to calling it "Procedural Art".

Aside from that, it was an amazing three days with lots and lots of wonderful people.

One of my favorite things to happen was when a young girl would look at all my art and say "you made all of this? By yourself!?" and I would reply with "yes, I did, and so can you".

Drawings Now in my Etsy Shop:

Folks have been asking me for ages, so I'm finally listing some of my hand drawn pieces in my etsy shop. It's slow going to add them, so let me know if you have favorites you'd like me to list.

I've started with some of my little fish and floral patterns.
