ArtAtomic Newsletter: August 2024
ArtAtomic: Art+Science+Code by Kristin Henry
Wow! It’s been over eight months since my last newsletter, just after moving to buttondown.
A lot has been going on in my life in those eight months, including a little adventure with Cancer and starting my path to becoming a Cancer survivor. I’m doing great now, by the way.
I’ve continued my daily drawings and sharing them on mastodon, patreon, and ko-fi.
Shortly after my surgery, I was able to visit the Kusama installations at the SFMOMA. I’ve been drawing shapes inspired by that visit ever since…along with my usual science and nature inspired patterns.
I’ve been taking things slowly, as I recover, but I have some in-person events coming up here in San Francisco:
Sept 1, 2024: SF Zine Fest https://www.sfzinefest.org/
Sept 22, 2024: Noe Valley Art Festival https://friendsofnoevalley.com/news/
Earlier this month (August), we went on a road trip to visit family in Santa Fe, NM. By luck, we were there during the Santa Fe Spanish Market art festival, and I discovered some wonderful art. I posted some photos and links to some great artists, over on my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/santa-fe-spanish-108992900
These days, most of my on-line social activity is on Mastodon, and my main account is at https://vis.social/@kristinHenry
Oh! I almost forgot about #SciArtSeptember! Since most of my #SciArt community left twitter, we’ve kind of scattered to various platforms. On Mastodon, I went ahead and organized a list of daily Science themed prompts to inspire us and updated my SciArt Prompt Generator and Watermark maker: https://artatomic.itch.io/prompts. Hopefully, I can keep up with the daily challenges and share them online.
