Hocus pocus! I'm on deadline for a story to be published in National Geographic. I want to save my full post for discussing that, so I'm swapping the usual order and sending you a mid-month experiment now.

Last night, I carved a slashing grin into a warty, 30-pound pumpkin and performed a reading of The Widow's Broom, my favorite festive book. Next year I'll add this enchanting poem for All Hallows Eve.
