Collective News: Rehauls and a FORUM?!

Aradia's Pigeon Post: News from the other side of the cauldron

Hello, everyone! Long time no write!

It has been tough these past few months to give hearty updates, due to working on behind the scenes prepping for future Aradia news—one of these being more additions to the Aradia Archives, especially those listed on our Roadmap to Magic! and finally getting to upload archives on our Internet Archive account. We mentioned this in our last newsletter, and we haven’t forgotten. It has just been a lot! Our first upload will hopefully be for Magical Boys by Kathy Hassinger and Jessica Probst. We are trying to provide both a copy of the site as well as the art and comics from the archived site. We also simply don’t want the art and comics to lose the context of the story, especially when some of the comic pages simply are broken in the archived site. We are trying our best to do a soft template for the uploads, with text and art, so that way, future readers can be served well!

Side news: last year in August, we managed to get in contact with Joe Curzon, webmaster for Magical Boys, after much searching! After the initial positive reply, we waited for a confirmation of further conversation and interview. Near the end of August, we sent a follow-up email to Curzon, and then again in the beginning of October. Unfortunately no more reply has come, so we are saddened to say that for now, this lead has died.

The other has been preparing the first steps to announce ARADIA BEAT Vol. 2! We have been working on a site for ARADIA BEAT in general, to make it easier for everyone to have the information at hand. We have also been trying to resolve the issues we’ve had with our main site. Thankfully, after some consultation for another piece of future Aradia news, we’ve been able to fix our site!

SITE REHAULS

The images finally now work on our site! It turns out that there was some error code in the backend that caused the images to not load, and it was thankfully an easy fix!

We have also fixed some links and sections that were not working. Our blog embed, for example, appeared to have stopped working, and while we would have been eager to look into why, we have generally been short on time for deeper dives. So instead we’ve linked directly to the blog when you click “Blog.” If you have a Dreamwidth account, simply go to the Profile page and click “join community” and/or “subscribe!” You can even click “Track” for a backup reminder of our new posts! (If you do not have a DW account, worry not—you can still comment on our entries!)

Our affiliates page also got taken down, as we said in our previous newsletter. In a memory lapse, we forgot to inform our affiliates of this—so when the gracious KNIFEBEETLE contacted us about our lack of a page, we quickly decided to insert the affiliates into our links page! We’re not sure why this worked, and the individual page doesn’t, but it does!

We’ve also rehauled our roster! Please check our updated comics and creators section!

We’ve also decided to leave Twitter and Instagram some months ago. Your best bet is to follow us on Socel.net if you’re on Mastodon or our bridged account on Bluesky if you’re on Bluesky. if you’re not sure on what we mean by bridged, then read here for more information! We urge you to follow this account FIRST, if you want to follow us on Bluesky. This way, we will be able to see your comments and replies!

However, we do recommend simply following our Mastodon account, as that will be our main account moving forward.

THE AGENDA OF THE FORUMITES

A screenshot of The Tower of Aradia, Aradia Collective's forum. The entire forum is not shown, but instead the top part with the header and some of the forums such as announcements, rules, introductions and feedback.

WE HAVE A NEW FORUM! For the past two years, we have been working on creating a forum—making sure that it works for those who remember them and for those who’ve never used them. We actually had a security measure in the form of 2FA (basically the thing that helps makes your accounts in place extra secure!) but our testers were all mostly confused by it or had no idea what was 2FA. We ourselves wished to edit the 2FA module to help make it easier to understand for every person who may wish to join the forum, so we contacted the creator of the extension—but they appear to have disappeared from the internet! Alas, this means our forum cannot provide the extra layer of security. But we have provided everything else to make sure your forum experience is a fun one!

Our comics in the collective have their own forum spaces as well now! If you’ve ever wanted to talk about the comics in our collective in deeper form, now is your chance!

If you wish to embark on a new magical journey through cyberspace, then come join our forum!

That’s about all the updates we have for you now! Thank you all for your support, and we hope you enjoy what we’ve given you!
