End of Summer Updates

Hello, everyone,

This is a life and writing update from Stephen Ritchie; I hope the end of summer is going well for all of you. I know for me, my summer routines are winding down, and my fall adventures are around the corner, hopefully followed by some cooler weather!

Writing-wise, I have made plenty of good progress editing my second fantasy novel, Raleigh: Rise of Redemeers. While I’m excited in regard to progress, it will take some time for it to be publish ready. While I’m anxious for this story’s release, I’m grateful I’m learning ways to improve my writing and develop my skills as an author. The beta readers and editor I’ve had for this second book have been great in challenging me to become a better writer, and while I wish I could rush that process it’s not the process that can be rushed. With that said, I’m confident it will make me a well-rounded author and give all my fans the best reading experience. While editing can be tough, I’m encouraged by how much I still love these characters and how their journey can inspire hope for the readers and even myself as the author.

I’m excited to be doing something new in this newsletter. I’m taking time to share work from a fellow author named Karen Daliath, and she is likewise sharing about my first fantasy novel, Kindgom of Heroes, in her newsletter. She writes fantasy as well, but more specifically romantansy in the form of fairytale retellings! If that sounds of interest to you, I’m including a link to her novel, Feathered Beauty. It is a no spice, romanstany novel and a retelling of Swan Lake.

Outside of writing, I recently finished working a summer day job I hold in the months school is out. They call it Summer Adventure Camp, and while it as a simple, local day camp, it gave me enough stories and memories to live up to the name Adventure Camp. This past week I had professional development, preparing for the new school year. This Tuesday, the students are back, I’ll be teaching, and the school year will be back into full swing.

My younger brother also left for being a Navy officer a few weeks ago. While I couldn’t be more proud, it is a big change having minimal contact with him. While he is strong and very capable, your thoughts and prayers are appreciated as he goes through officer training. While I did not orignally base the character off him, my brother definitely reminds of my MC, Anthony Alderson. They both have inspirational strength and courage while still being down to earth and kind. I’m sure as I hear more of brother’s journeys in the Navy he will continue to fuel inspiration for the character.

Apart from this newsletter, the best way to keep up to date on my work is with my Facebook page and my author website, and I will post links to both below. Thank you for your continued support in reading and reviewing my work, and cheering me on along the way. Finish summer strong, and may crisp, autumn winds bring you exciting changes in the months to come.

Sincerely,

Stephen Ritchie
