US confident Israel is inching toward its view on humanitarian pause.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s qualified support for “tactical little pauses” is seen as a slight shift within the Biden administration.
The Biden administration is confident Israel has moved, ever so slightly, closer to its view that there must be humanitarian pauses throughout the war against Hamas to help civilians, senior U.S. officials said. (Politico).

Kamala is always busy.
The Senate just confirmed the Biden-Harris Administration's 150th federal judicial nominee. For far too long, our courts have not reflected the diversity of our nation. Talented lawyers of all backgrounds belong on the bench, and @POTUS and I are making that a reality. pic.twitter.com/Bgb4FHki27

Late in the evening yesterday, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan was censured by the House of Representatives.
Yesterday afternoon, the resolution to censor Congresswoman Tlaib advanced.
“From the river to the sea” which was used by Congresswoman Tlaib (on her video denouncing President Biden) is broadly recognized in the Congress as a rallying cry Hamas embraced, urging the destruction of Israel and the Jewish people.
Most Democrats rejected the phrase but felt censorship was a step too far.
From Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
Then, tonight 22 Democrats joined most Republicans in the rebuke of Ms. Tlaib, the only Palestinian American in Congress, accusing her of calling for the destruction of Israel. The vote was 234 to 188. Four Republicans voted against censuring Ms. Tlaib, while one Democrat and three Republicans voted “present,” declining to take a position. (New York Times).

Oh what a night. Tuesday, November 7.
A great night for Democrats.
As the President said…
Democratic Governor Andy Beshear was re-elected last night.
A Democratic governor just got reelected in Kentucky. Here’s how.

Andy Beshear offers Democrats some lessons for how to win in Trump country.
Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear has just won reelection in Kentucky, beating his opponent, Attorney General Daniel Cameron in a state that voted for former President Donald Trump by 26 percentage points in 2020. Beshear’s victory, which rested on the strength of his candidacy and popularity as governor, as well as his focus on issues like abortion rights, could help provide some lessons for Democrats going into 2024.
Below are a few ways Beshear kept Kentucky competitive for Democrats, despite the challenging fundamentals in the state.
A strong candidacy
Localized policy positions
Big fundraising numbers and outreach (Vox).
Cherelle Parker, a Democrat, Elected Mayor of Philadelphia.
A former state legislator and City Council member, Ms. Parker will be the first woman to lead the city.
Cherelle Parker, a longtime state and local elected official who promised Philadelphia residents that she would aggressively tackle the city’s crime woes, was elected mayor Tuesday, according to The Associated Press, making her the first woman voted into the city’s highest office.
Viewed as more moderate than the other candidates in the Democratic primary in May, Ms. Parker, 51, pledged to hire hundreds more police officers and bring back what she called “constitutional” stop-and-frisk tactics. With registered Democrats vastly outnumbering Republicans in the city — the nation’s sixth most populous, with 1.6 million residents — Ms. Parker’s primary win gave her a significant advantage over the Republican nominee, David Oh, a former colleague of hers on the City Council.
No Republican has been elected mayor in Philadelphia since 1947, and recent nominees have typically received less than 20 percent of the vote.
Ms. Parker, a lifelong Philadelphian, will be the city’s 100th mayor. She is a former English teacher, state legislator and member of the City Council. In talking about how to address the city’s high levels of illegal drug use and violent crime, she has been open to the idea of asking the National Guard to help tackle the open-air drug market in the Kensington neighborhood. More than 500 people were killed in each of the past two years in Philadelphia, the highest number on record, though homicides, shootings and violent crimes have fallen this year.
Still, two-thirds of residents say the city is going in the wrong direction. Much of the violent crime has been concentrated in Black neighborhoods, and Ms. Parker said that as a Black woman and the mother of a Black son, she could identity with the struggles that many Philadelphians face.
Ms. Parker will succeed Mayor Jim Kenney, who was limited to two terms in office. He has become increasingly unpopular, and has been criticized for being less engaged and less visible than he was when he first took office. (New York Times).
Abortion Rights are now written into the Constitution of Red State Ohio.
Virginia doesn’t belong to Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin. The Senate Senate will be blue.
So far the House of Delegates, previously in GOP hands, is guaranteed to be at least a tie, and there is a way for the House of Delegates to be blue.
🚨🚨🚨MAJOR BREAKING: In a HUGE upset, Democrats will RETAIN control of the Virginia Senate, blocking Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s (R) efforts.

Yusef Salaam, one of the Central Park Five, has been elected to New York’s City Council.
It is not lost on Yusef Salaam that, as he prepares to give his victory speech tonight for a seat representing Harlem on the New York City Council, former President Donald J. Trump is facing multiple criminal trials. Trump called for the reinstatement of the death penalty after Salaam, one of five Black and Latino men exonerated in 2002 in the rape and assault of a female jogger in Central Park in 1989, was first arrested. “Karma is real and we have to remember that,” Salaam said. (New York Times).

Mississippi.
As the counts are coming in, we probably won’t win the Governor’s race in Mississippi but at worst, Brandon Presley, opposing incumbent Tate Reeves, put up a good fight. Still, we are making in-roads even in the deepest south.
