The Secret is Out. The Occupant of the White House is not well.
Trump unleashes tirade against "weak," "terrible" Pope Leo.
President Trump lashed out against Pope Leo XIV on Sunday night, calling him "WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy."
The big picture: The president's comments escalate already high tensions between the president and the first U.S.-born pope, who has spoken out on Trump administration immigration policies and the Iran war.
What they're saying: In a lengthy Truth Social post, Trump criticized the Chicago-born pontiff on matters including the Catholic Church's stance during the COVID pandemic and said he likes Leo's "brother Louis much better" than him because, he claimed, he's "all MAGA."
"I don't want a Pope who thinks it's terrible that America attacked Venezuela," Trump wrote in an apparent reference to Leo's January expression of concern for Venezuelans following the U.S. raid and ensuing capture of leader Nicolás Maduro in the South American country.
Trump doubled down in his criticism in comments to reporters late Wednesday, saying: "I'm not a big fan of Pope Leo. He's a very liberal person."

Trump’s recent attack against Pope Leo XIV on Sunday night.

When the College of Cardinals met in Conclave in May 2025 to name a new Pope, Trump posted a photo of himself in papal robes.

Yesterday, after attacking the Pope, Trump shared a picture of himself (a much younger self) as a healing Jesus.

Trump’s ”I am Jesus” photo offended so many, by the end of the work day Monday, he took it down, claiming he thought he looked like a doctor, not Jesus, in the picture. Vance didn’t get the message. Speaking to the Press about the disgusting photo, Vance said Trump was only joking.
One more thing.
Pope Leo XIV said on Monday that he was not afraid of the Trump administration, hours after President Trump lashed out at the pontiff on social media.
Leo, speaking to reporters on a flight to Algeria ahead of a 10-day tour of several African nations, said: “I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do.” Asked directly about Mr. Trump’s comments on Truth Social, Leo said: “It’s ironic — the name of the site itself. Say no more.”
Leo’s comments came after Mr. Trump’s lengthy attack on the pope on Sunday night, in which the president accused the pontiff of being “weak on crime” and “catering to the Radical Left.” Mr. Trump also said Leo, the first American pope, should “focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician.”
Tensions between the two leaders have risen in recent weeks. The pope has criticized President Trump’s attacks on Iran and appeared to distance himself from efforts by Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, to portray the U.S.-Israeli campaign against Iran as a Christian mission.
On Monday, Leo said he would continue to publicly oppose war, while downplaying the idea that he was engaged in a direct dispute with Mr. Trump.
“The things I say are not meant as attacks on anyone,” Leo told reporters.
He added: “I do not look at my role as being political, a politician. I don’t want to get into a debate with him. I don’t think that the message of the Gospel is meant to be abused in the way that some people are doing.”
The pope answered questions during a two-hour flight from Rome to Algiers on Monday, speaking with journalists accompanying him on his tour through Algeria, Cameroon, Angola and Equatorial Guinea.
He added: “I will continue to speak out loudly against war, looking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateral relationships among the states to look for just solutions to problems. Too many people are suffering in the world today. Too many innocent people are being killed. And I think someone has to stand up and say there’s a better way.” (New York Times)

Let’s talk about the victory for Democracy in Hungary.

It started with an LGBTQ+ march.

It ended with this statement by Hungary’s new leader, Péter Magyar.

Magyar’s victory was big.

Elections have consequences.

Late in the day Monday, Orbán’s blockade ended. Magyar announced that Hungary will no longer block the EU’s €90 billion support package for Ukraine.
This happened too. 👇

One more thing.

Obama is urging Virginia to vote YES on redistricting in the election that ends on Tuesday April 21.
Early voting is happening now.
These are the lies Virginia Republicans are sending out. 👇

If you do one thing today for the midterms, spread the word to Virginians to vote YES. Make a call. Post on social media. Vote yourself if you live in VA.

Trump has isolated America on the world stage.

Updates about Democrats.
Eric Swalwell, frontrunner in California, was forced to withdraw from the gubernatorial campaign after four women accused him of sexual misconduct. As a result, he put Dems in a precarious position - we may lose the California governor race.
Later in the day yesterday, Swalwell also resigned from the Congress.

For those counting Dems v. Repubs in the Congress, Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez from Texas also resigned yesterday. The numbers didn’t change … yet. November is around the corner.
New Mexico’s Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham did this.

Mayor Mamdani is doing everything he can to make NYC a more affordable, easier place in which to live.

The midterms are turning bluer and bluer.
