Hearing Trump and his bro Musk joke about firing workers, I found myself compelled to comment.
I apologize in advance for using profanity in the post below but my intention is to capture the scorn and dismissiveness that Trump and Musk show toward people they hold in contempt.
Please feel free to share your reactions to my post with me at annetteniemtzow@gmail.com.
Tomorrow, the Roundup will once again resume a more familiar form. Please free too to share the Roundup and suggest friends subscribe. Annette
Trump and his Bro, Elon “Billy Bush” Musk.
When Donald Trump, age 78, and Elon Musk, age 53, talk about workers’ rights, they sound like then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and television host Billy Bush having a lewd conversation about women in September 2005.
Trump persuaded the media and public to see that conversation as “Locker room talk” and therefore unimportant. It wasn’t.
It made clear the attitudes a Presidential candidate who would soon occupy the Oval Office held about WOMEN. Who could care about that. Trump was just a red meat boy at heart. So.
This time the boys’ conversation was about workers and firing, a subject the host of the Apprentice had long embraced as a joke and persuaded the media and the American public to see as a joke. Ho, Ho, Ho. You’re fired!
Despite the importance of jobs and employment to most Americans, the same man, now a former American President -with aspirations of returning to office - and his locker room bud still embraced the subject of jobs as a joke.
“You’re the greatest cutter,” Trump told Musk. “I look at what you do. You walk in and say, ‘You want to quit?’ I won’t mention the name of the company but they go on strike and you say, ’That’s OK. You’re all gone.'”
Musk said, “Yeah,” and laughed while Trump was talking.
According to a report by NPR, in June, eight former workers at SpaceX, Musk’s rocket company, sued the company and Musk, alleging he had them fired after they challenged what they called rampant sexual harassment and a hostile “Animal House”-style work environment at the company.
In addition, the NLRB determined that a 2018 Twitter post by Musk unlawfully threatened Tesla employees with the loss of stock options if they decided to be represented by a union.
Three judges on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld that decision, as well as a related NLRB order that Tesla rehire a fired employee, with back pay. But the full 5th Circuit later threw out that decision and voted to hear the matter again.
This is a joke? Maybe to Trump and Musk.
When the Washington Post released the Access Hollywood Tapes, even Billy Bush had the decency to hear what we all heard. We recognized men who shouldn’t have power over women’s lives, self-important boys who thought women and women's sexuality were a joke, something funny, to be evaluated for their own pleasure.
As for workers and workers’ rights, those too are clearly a joke to these boys - one again the GOP nominee for the highest and most powerful office in this nation.
They believe they have the right to f*ck both women and all workers regardless of gender.
This talk between Trump and Musk must not be ignored.
Bless E. Jeanne Carroll for saying Trump didn’t have the right to f*ck her without consent.
Bless Shawn Fain, United Auto Workers union President and the UAW for filing labor practice charges against presidential aspirant Trump and his pal, Tesla CEO Musk. Presidents and employers don’t have and must never again have the right to f*ck workers at their whims.
