Work Hard / Play Hard
Waiting around during a wedding at The Colony Hotel, Kennebunkport, Maine
I spent last week at home sick with the flu or tending to sick kids. This week has been wall-to-wall work. It's totally awesome to be back in the busy season again.
I started out with a proposal shoot at The Cliff House in Cape Neddick on Thursday. I've done a number of family shoots at The Cliff House but never a proposal. There's no where to hide so I just set up a tripod as if I was just a nature photographer and then once the couple showed up I offered to take their picture. The groom took this opportunity to propose, she said yes, bada-bing-bada-boom there you go.
My phony baloney set up
Aww...
Then on Friday I shot my first wedding of the season in my hometown. It was a very small, intimate wedding at a rented beach house.
They both said I do.
The bride's grandfather was a real character.
Their dog couldn't make the trip from Colorado (or on the Honeymoon to Greece) so he attended in toy form.
Then Saturday Lilly and I shot a wedding at the very swank Colony Hotel in Kennebunkport. The couple was polite and kind of nervous but I could tell that they were low-key goofballs.
My favorite shot of the day, taken by Lilly. Can you believe that wallpaper?
Sunday I had a make-up engagement session from last week when I was sick. It went great. I'm just so happy that everything is blooming.
After the engagement shoot I drove to York to scout a location for a wedding coming up in a three weeks. The couple wants to jump off this bridge after the ceremony. I think I'll need to invest in some waders to get the right shot.
Phew, is this exhausting? This all seems exhausting. Monday I got some deserved fun and social time. I went to see one of my favorite musicians Grouper at the First Parish UU Church in Portland, Maine with a bunch of former PDX friends.
Look at all those nice, mask-compliant attendees
I woke up bright and early the next morning to take my 4 year old son in for dental surgery. What a week. This next week is much mellower. One wedding, one boarding school graduation, and a craft fair featuring some really talented people.
Next week's newsletter will either be a small town craft fair scene report or a review of the cutest camera ever made. We'll see.
