The Gulch / Highlights
We are in The Gulch/The Gooch/the liminal space between Christmas and New Years and as always it feels weird. I have been sidelined with a weird cough/chest thing. I don't mess around with my lungs since I almost died from pneumonia in 2019. I had a cough for 3 weeks and started to feel pretty tight in my chest so I went to the doctor and got antibiotics to zap that shit right out of me. I feel a million times better and I'm gearing up for my final push of the year. I have a rescheduled portrait session on Friday and a New Years Eve wedding on Saturday. Then it's basically vacation until March.
As I stated before, I will not achieve 100 shoots in 2022 but if I look at the many proper shoots I did do, the weddings (which are really like multiple shoots in a single day), and all the goofy pictures I've taken of my family I still have a ton of photos accumulated. I decided that I would try to master the end-of-the-year slideshow so I can compete in the current social media hell-scape.
So, this morning I compiled 100 portraits and threw them together in the InShot app and added some public domain music on top that my wife thinks sounds like Weather Channel music. My favorite genre. I was going to base this entire newsletter on the slideshow but of course Buttondown doesn't support embedded video so you'll just have to follow the link below or look at my Instagram to see it. Lame. Happy New Year.
