Olive Garden Wedding

The title is a joke. Click bait. I didn't really shoot at an Olive Garden. What I did shoot was a very nice, very FAMILIAR wedding. I've written before about how it can be kind of sad and lonely to be a wedding photographer. You drive alone, sometimes really far, to shoot a bunch of people you don't know having a good time together. You might have a second shooter at the event you can riff with a little, you might have a little bit of familiarity with the couple from meeting with them and doing an engagement session, but it's all very fleeting.

The wedding I shot on Saturday was very different. The couple aren't my friends, but the situation is kind of unique. Sara and Ben booked me about a year ago and referred me to Sara's brother Nick, who was getting married a month before them. I shot Sara and Ben's engagement pictures, and got to meet Ben's mom. Then I shot Nick's wedding with his bride Anna (which I wrote about here). I met all of their family and a bunch of friends who would be at and in Sara and Ben's wedding. Sara and Ben were in the wedding party of Anna and Nick and Anna and Nick were in the wedding party of Sara and Ben. Does all of this make sense? Anyway, I rolled up to Sara and Ben's wedding and I felt like I knew everyone. I danced with Sara's amazing grandmother. People were warm and friendly. That family KNOWS HOW TO PARTY. I should also mention that Sara is a 1st grade teacher and Ben is an elementary school gym teacher. They met at work. They might have the cutest client couple origin story I've ever encountered. Here's the photo dump.

I also shot a fun wedding in Boothbay at Wilson Memorial Chapel which is a BEAUTIFUL location.

I'll finish off with some engagement photos from last week that I mentioned but didn't post. They were shot at Diamond Cove, on Great Diamond Island. The couple's wedding is Sunday at the island and I'm sure I'll write about it in next week's newsletter. It is looking like it'll be one of the most complex weddings I've ever shot. A lot of people, a lot of locations, a lot of ferry rides. It should be quite an adventure.
