Soaked Shoes and Confetti
This weekend I shot two weddings. Very different weddings with very different vibes. Saturday was at The Seacoast Science Center, a place my kids love with aquarium stuff, tide pools, etc. Unfortunately the weather was atrocious. It was rainy and windy, forcing the ceremony and reception to be held inside a tent. A tent that was battered by the elements all night. I could tell the couple was disappointed but they were very determined to make the most of the epic, coastal scenery. I really admired that! The bride was fearless and wanted to do as many of their photos outside as they could. They are a quiet and reserved couple so this bravery came as a pleasant surprise.
It was a long day but I had fun. My socks were soaked from the moment I stepped out out the door. Every wedding is an adventure.
The next day I had a wedding just a few miles up the coast as the crow flies in York Harbor. The weather was much more agreeable and the couple was a little bit wilder. Some couples are shy and less than comfortable in front of the camera. The couple on Sunday was very comfortable being documented - it was me, my second shooter Nate (https://www.nkatsphoto.com/, who shot the great confetti pictures above and below), plus a video team. It was cool, it was different. The couple are big fans of EDM festivals, kind of like today's version of raver/club kids. I love photographing on the dance floor so I loved it.
Some things to look forward to this week - I get to shoot at a lighthouse I've never been to before in Gloucester, I get to ride on a river ferry on Sebago Lake, and I get to shoot at a big rustic farm in western Maine. Can't wait! I'm too busy to be clever.
