Hell of a Week

Whew. Crazy times. In the past week I have done an engagement session, two weddings, my son started kindergarten, I purchased a new car, started taking adult swimming lessons, and braved a crazy electrical storm that knocked out our internet and half of our power. When I write it all down it sounds like a lot. Is it a lot? I think it's a lot.
Thursday was kindergarten day and the engagement shoot day. Now both kids are in school and my wife and I get to actually relax a little bit during the week. With the kids in school our Juicy Juice and Flavor Blast Goldfish budget will decrease substantially.

The engagement shoot was quick and fun. It was a nice couple from the south who were up here visiting for the first time. This was going to be a proposal shoot but the dude felt inspired and proposed the day before and this turned into an engagement session.

Friday I bought a new car which is great because I don't have to leave the family stranded when I'm out on location. It's good timing because there's a lot of stuff coming up. Also on Friday night we had a ridiculous electrical storm and lightning struck really close to our house frying a bunch of electrical stuff. It sounded like a metal trash can being thrown down a big flight of stairs. Our internet was out for four days making the delivery of all my assignments very hard.
Saturday I drove up to Freedom, Maine to shoot a wedding at Hidden Valley Summer Camp. Hidden Valley is a long running art camp that one of the grooms attended as a kid. This vibes were really good at this wedding. It was a lot of very hip Brooklyn folks staying the weekend at this very rural Maine summer camp. Everyone was really cool and friendly. The newlyweds have a great community of friends and family around them. Congrats to Will and Ben!

On Sunday I drove to Atkinson, New Hampshire for a nice little wedding. One fun thing about this one is that the couple wanted to sing a song together instead of doing a first dance. A lot of couples hate doing first dances these days.

Monday I took my first adult swim lesson. I grew up at the ocean, which means that I learned how to boogie board and not drown but I never learned how to swim. It's pretty cool.
This coming weekend I'm shooting a wedding in New York which I've very excited for. Next week's newsletter should be a doozy. At least I hope it is!
