Apparently Every Person In The World Is Sick
Fun week! I had two shoots (#93 and 94) and Photo A GoGo happened. The photo show as great. Huge turnout. We brought our kids and they were very well behaved. They danced to the live music and they didn't knock over any of the expensive artwork. My piece sold but I don't know any of the details. The whole evening was a fundraiser for The Bakery Photo Collective. I bid on two pieces, one by Don Peterson that Lilly liked and one that I liked by the extraordinary Dylan Hausthor. We won both pieces and it feel great to be a patron of the arts! Buy some art!
I had a bunch of shoots planned but some of them got cancelled because the whole world is sick right now. One shoot that did happen was in the old port. "Edgy Headshots" for a cool animator named Sasha.
Here's a fun photo tip - if it's really sunny, maybe TOO sunny and you don't like how the shadows are looking, have the person you are photographing stand next to a white building that is being hit directly with sun light. The light will bounce off the building and hit your subject and give you really dramatic results. Example below.
If you can't find a white building you can have them squat in front of a white car as well, but that can be pretty sketchy, lol.
Then I did a mellow, very cold, very cute engagement session at one of my favorite places - The Hope Trail in Kennebunk. I always try to get people to shoot there. It rarely happens but I love when it does.
One of my favorite things about The Hope Trail is one section of dense pine trees that look lush and full from the outside, but once you enter you see that there had been a massive fire so it's very dark and barren. Not very romantic but we got some cool shots in there anyway.
More cancelled shoots this next week, hopefully I can book replacements on my road to 100. Stay healthy! Please!
