Another Week, Another Mellow Wedding
I had another small, quiet wedding this past weekend, and I got a few new lights. I also spent some time testing the new lens I wrote about last week while just casually hanging out with the fam. Last week I just put the lens right to work at a wedding so it was nice to do some casual shooting with it.
Some people get lenses with extremely large apertures and convince themselves that they need to shoot everything wide open. I don't really like to do that since I often have to shoot couples. If I shoot a couple with my 50mm f1.2 lens wide open at 1.2 then I will get one eye of one of the people in focus and the other person will be blurry. f1.2 means that the depth of field is EXTREMELY shallow. It can be nice for portraits of a single person, as you'll see below.
Having a shallow aperture is also a good way to blur out your extremely messy apartment.
The wedding was great, really low key. Not that I shoot a lot of really high intensity weddings but so far this year has been a breeze. I'll have some more
extreme weddings later this month.
No weddings this week but I have a real estate shoot and another styled shoot/open studio party at Studio G in Biddeford that I'm really excited about. I'm wondering if I should bring my medium format camera again or find new ways to confuse people at one of Leah's styled shoots.
