Happy New Year! Want a Free Book? YESSSS!
Books, Beauty, and Bean
Happy New Year! New year, new email platform! With the whole substack nazi thing I had to move to a new email system--I'm using Buttondown for now. Pardon any errors as I get the hang of this.
Now, I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season. It's 2024! And to celebrate, I have a surprise gift for you!
Books

My new thriller, Almost Surely Dead, is an Amazon First Read this month! That means it's available a month before launch and if you're a Prime member, it's free! Even better, you get two books! I highly recommend Heather Levy's sexy and smart Hurt For Me as your other book option. More books in 2024!
But wait, there's more news! I have book events coming up! If you're in NYC Feb 1, come to PT Knitwear where Alex Segura (the most amazing guy in crime writing!) and I will be launching Almost Surely Dead. Masks required so I don't have to wear one while speaking.
I will also be at the Tucson Book Festival in March, and I have a slew of virtual live events so be sure to check my insta for all the details.
Beauty
I've been peeling and masking and doing my best to get my skin where I want it post-Covid. We're getting there! But I've come across a couple products that are interesting because they use molecules and chemicals that come from your own skin. Science!
There are two that I'm trying out right now. Can I definitively say these work? No, because I'm using a ton of different products to smooth out my skin/acne marks. (Led mask, Vit c, glycolic and lactic acid, retinol, transexemic acid, etc.) But I find that every little bit helps. And the marks are fading.

If you ever thought I wish Incubus had a beauty line, you're in luck! Mother Science is founded by the guitarist of Incubus and his wife (Mike Einziger and Ann Marie Simpson-Einziger) and it uses a patented molecule (Malassezin) to fade marks faster than Vitamin C they claim. I need more time using it but so far, I enjoy it. It's hydrating, not irritating, and like I said, the marks are fading. Molecular Hero Serum, $89
The other ingredient you're going to hear a lot about this year is ectoin. Ectoin is also naturally occurring, and it is amazing for dry and mature skin. I was given a bottle of Biossance's copper peptide serum for Christmas. I already use a copper peptide (The Ordinary) but I wanted to try it out once I realized it has ectoin in it. Holy hydration, Batman! My skin is so moisturized! Heck, I can use less moisturizer with this. I love it. I already bought another bottle and the new Ectoin cream by Biossance. Stay tuned! Copper Peptide Serum with ectoin, $68
Beanie
And now, the Bean Machine.
