[AE.News] Butler, Scuttled
So, The Guardian recently published an interview with venerable feminist scholar Judith Butler that was edited after the fact, redacting an entire answer that explicitly linked anti-trans "gender critical" ideology to fascism.

The article was also, at the time of publishing, linked to a putative series of further articles exploring the topic of gender, which seems to have been spiked by the editors.

This obviously springs from and has implications for the powerful and growing transphobia lobby in the UK and elsewhere, and it's also obviously a powerful refutation of the notion that there even is an all-powerful trans lobby that major institutions are beholden to or afraid of offending.
And there's a lot of chatter about the UK media's entrenched anti-trans element clashing with the US branch of The Guardian's attempt to promote a more progressive or even just balanced view, but for now I'd just like to highlight and share the interview, which can be read in its unredacted entirety at Ill Will:

I found the interview very interesting and worth reading, as it contains a useful clarification of what Butler meant by suggesting, decades ago, that gender is performative... it's really not what most people think when they hear it.
