Everywhere, people are saying the quiet part sarcastically. But the sarcasm is itself an obfuscation, because the threat is real. There are two possibilities, of course. One is that humans are simply incapable of treating these risks seriously. The other is that something inhuman has its hands up the asses of various human sockpuppets, who it uses to taunt and toy with us from a position of total control. After all, the most probable scenario, given that we live in a universe where technological singularity is possible, is that the singularity has long since happened.
As we watch the obvious cyberpunk dystopian future unfold through balkanization, revanchism, and the unstoppable march of technological progress, it's important to remember that there are worse things in store for us if we blink than death.
