Heading North and other fables
December 2024.
“How did it get so late so soon?” ― Dr. Seuss
A few weeks ago I thought it would be wonderful to go up to Vermont to visit my family, who would all be in geographical proximity for a week or so mid-December. Then I looked at our finances and knew it would be unrealistic. I had spoken of the situation over the phone to a dear friend. A few days later she called me back and offered us not only a place to stay but the use of their car while we are there. That covered two of the three most expensive aspects of the trip. The third, airfare, we traded in for the much cheaper train ride which, being both currently unemployed senior citizens, was a very leisurely eight-hour option.
This week the trip was threatened when we took turns losing days to an intestinal virus and maybe food poisoning. We are now 85% on the road to recovery so the journey should begin as planned on Monday, 9 December.

If all goes well my book of short stories — “Withdrawing Fables From The Memory Bank: and Other New York City Reveries” — will hopefully be published as an ebook in the coming days and in paperback early 2025. I’ll let you know.
In the meantime, here’s a lovely piece about New York City from my life/art partner, Tammy.
“What The City Says”

“December is the toughest month of the year. Others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, October, August, and February.”
― Mark Twain
I’ll be doing as much hanging out with my kids as possible and would also really enjoy connecting with friends if your schedules allow — so please, do drop a line.
