Hawk and Lobster
Resolutions scattered around my desk—like so many discarded skin flakes feeding the dust mites—as the new year gets off to a slow start.
No new writings and no new art from me.
For writings I'll turn it over to Tammy—with my photographs/video—and for art: the Surrealists!
HAWK
Tammy puts out seeds for birds on the fire escape — mostly mourning doves, sparrows, and an occasional bluejay — who flutter and coo as they bully each other to get seeds.
This morning when I got up and looked out the window I saw that the unusual silence outside was being lorded over by . . . a hawk! —
they're huge! — perched on the edge of the fire escape.
I crept along very slowly to get as close as I could to take a few photographs.
Even through the glass and curtains he could sense my presence and kept turning and staring in my direction.
When he fully sensed this paparazzo — he took off.
No other birds have visited our fire escape since.
