Overthinking just means you can think a lot. Think through multiple scenarios and what not.
Anxiety is sorta fear, that fear serves us.
Put anxiety behind you to push you, instead of front of you to stop you.
Thanks to social media, we associate Overthinking, Anxiety and ton of stuff like this as "bad".
I shouldn't feel anxious, shouldn't overthink, etc. Phrases like, it's okay to be '——' indirectly make it look such feelings as bad. Bad in the sense, destructive for you.
A simple question:
Why is 'it' bad? If it's bad, how did it survive evolution?
It's terrifying when it's crippling Anxiety, mostly it's not crippling. But our fear of Anxiety turn all Anxiety into crippling Anxiety.
Mini version: also wrote an extended version, link at end
Anxiety is just a feeling, which you can use or be consumed by.
The main thing that pushes me to *avoid having a shitty life is all the shit that has already happened in my life. And the shit that I see people going through in their life.
—- An example,
Once, my friend asked me to motivate her (she wasn't feeling like studying).
Me: If you don't study, you see that old lady in the corner store who is always frustrated and the one you don't like to interact with. You most probably will end up in a similar job. And a frustrating job makes a frustrated person.
🎯Know what you want to avoid.
When I say consumed, I'm not saying not feeling anxious. I mean not letting it control your actions. I mean, getting the fear of it somewhat under control. But how?
You need to realize how dangerous this Anxiety is.
Your fear of experiencing Anxiety makes it worse. You're not unique. Everyone experiences it, but people process it differently.
Point? Just coz you're experiencing Anxiety doesn't mean it's a bad thing or makes you a bad person.
It's a natural safety mechanism going out of whack.
—- But how?
Recognize the presence of a monster. Signs that I look out for:
Observe your body, how you act when you're experiencing Anxiety. Every tiny bit helps. I didn't become aware of these signs in one day.
—- Then what,
p.s. Anxiety isn't the same as an Anxiety disorder. Look it up.
p.s. I know it's easier said than done. But keep trying. Look out for these signs when everything is going all good, so in a way, you're more prepared when shit hits the fan.
